Posted by Erich von Manstein on 31 Jan 2018, 15:47

After a small ceremony the 69th Spielwarenmesse was declared open yesterday evening.
It goes from 31.01 till 04.02. and of course we want to know if there are any new products or innovations in 1/72.

I hope, that those sets will contain whole range of new late war figures (for example Soviet and Polish Assault Infantry, German Late War Infantry, German Paratroopers (used as ordinary infantry during defence of Zeelow Heights), Volksturm, etc) instead of recycling early war infantry previously released by Zvezda.

I hope you will be correct, but I think these will be the S.O.S. in a different package. (Same Old Sets).

An early and thus incomplete list from IPMS Germany.

http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/Ausstellungen/Nuernberg2018/Nuernberg_2018.html

And a few pictures from first day already.

http://www.ipmsdeutschland.de/Ausstellungen/Nuernberg2018/Tag_1/Messe_2018_Tag_1.html

Pictures & list will be considerably expanded during the next days.

I hope we'll see more news from Dragon, Mirage, First to Fight, Preiser, Roden, MasterBox, Pegasus, ICM etc. ... .
Will certainly try to summarise & add some more of already known announcements from ACE, Trumpeter, ModelCollect & Tiger Model.

And "Zvezda" is the only who has a different opinion.
Zvezda's forum (in Russian, you can use a "google translate" to read all) - http://www.zvezda.org.ru/forum/voprosy-firme-zvezda/3005-bronya-v-100-m?start=1705
Question: "Does the position on exclusives has not changed? In the Berlin sets they will not be?"
Answer: "Nothing has changed. Exclusive will not. If suddenly something changes, you will be informed"
"Exclusives" in this case means sets or models which not selled as separate items and can be buyed only with large game boxes - as it was earlier with all command groups, soviet frontier guards and romanian infantry.

Just to conclude this years fair report in a satisfying manner, here some more kits that were overlooked before or were announced since my last post.

ACE
72571 - 7,62cm Pak 36(r), ger. WWII AT-gun based on sov. M1936 divisional gun F-22
New & improved kit, not a re-release of the previous model.

First to Fight
52 - Sd.Kfz. 251/4 Ausf. A, ger. WWII gun-towing half-track

This special range consists of quick build kits, but is very useful for 1939-41 “Blitzkrieg“ campaigns and -even more enthralling- all models are firsts in 1/72 plastic.
