Strelets Polish Infantry on the March

Posted by Marvin on 07 Jan 2018, 13:49

Happy New Year everyone! :-D

I've been busy over the holiday period tackling Strelets new Napoleonic infantry set of Polish troops on the march. They are certainly improving their figures with these new sets - I think these look pretty good!

I've painted the 12th Regiment which featured yellow collars aside from the usual blue uniform, white lapels and red cuffs. I'm currently working on another regiment using the remainder of the box.

A very fine bunch of fellows indeed. I love the faces.

Their has been criticism of the ' thin' look of the latest Stretlets offerings but to be fair you did not get many fat soldiers in those days when food was always at a premium.

Unless you were in charge of course.

Best wishes,

Chris

Wonderful paint, basing and display for those 12th Regiment Poles, Marvin. In your view, how well do these Strelets figures blend in with figures from other manufacturers? (Italeri, Zvezda, etc.)

Excellent unit! You did a great job on these. Soldiers on the march are very interesting for wargamers.

Thanks, everybody, glad you like them.

They are indeed thin, Chris, but what strikes me is how tall they are as well, making them real beanpoles. So, in answer to Blufalchion - I'd say that size-wise they look a little out of scale. even when compared with some of the other more recent Strelets sets.

So, I do like them but they might be noticeably taller than other manufacturers figs? :eh:

Thank you, Konrad. Your own astonishing Strelets output has made me envious on so many occasions.

The Poles from the 13th Legion in white with the tilt to their headgear on one side look quite an interesting pose of conversion to consider. ( :-D Meaning by little o`ll Me! ) As for myself i have not done any conversions for many years now,but pictures sure do spark the imagination light onto full beam.

Polish infantry on the March
:-D Beanpoles.i kinda like that.

Marvin, your painting is first rate and easy on the eye as are your bases too.
Thanks for sharing your hobby style work.
Napoleonics,Just imagine what whole regiments would look like.
 Perhapes a group build?

:coffee: `i painted a figure the other day it looked awfully bad, which is quite usual.'BB

Not bad, man, not bad. Really - I like 'em. Strelets has improved hell of a lot.
Only thing about them as about the Brits/Scots is, that the muskets have an odd look to them.

I did a pic search of napoleonic polish infantry and a lot of the pics are very similar looking to Marvin´s.
Could it be down to the colours? Some pics with White trousers look like they are a bit stockier.
Would be interesting to do a comparison with the totally blue uniform next to ones with blue jacket and White trousers

How did you guess what I'm painting with the rest of the box? :-D

That's a good observation. Strelets muskets are still a bit nebulous and slightly misshapen. But reckon I can forgive them that. ;-)

Well, Paul, blue trousers were worn for 'winter' wear and white ones for 'summer'. I hear from the Mrs that dark colours are more "slimming" - so that must be it... :xd:

Good work Marvin. What kind of yellow did you use for collars and shakos?
I still look for nice, rich yellow paint with good coverage.

Thanks! The yellow I use is Vallejo's Game Color "Gold Yellow" 72.007 :yeah: I usually just stick to Vallejo's model colors but I somehow discovered this one and I'm glad that I did.

I have them here on my table as well. Together with the wide range of Polish staff officers from Art Miniaturen. But unfortunately I did not have the time to start...

It goes without saying that your paintjob is very fine again!
