Nice work. Did the Saxons of this period employ their grenadiers as shock troops, to break enemy lines at crucial points?

Saxon tactics were unchanged from the 7yw. Poor leadership was also rife. Rank depended on who your family was, who your friends were and how much you were willing to pay, mediocrity abounded. ( Hmmm sounds a bit like the British Army too.)

Tactics
Form line, fire two volleys and charge with bayonets.

Tactics to combat cavalry.
Stay in line hope for the best, anything else is far too complicated.

The Grenadier --Battalion Winkel under Prince Hohenlohe did put on a fine parade ground display amid the fleeing Prussians et al at Jena.
The battalion formed an open square and retired at normal pace with their band playing. If any French closed on them they formed for battle. At any respite the drummer would beat "column of platoons and the band would strike up again and off they went in complete order.
