The metals especially are gorgeous! What type of paints do you use? What is your technique?

Thanks for the feedback!
This is not a dry brush method
First, I paint with a mettallic color (No. 91), and then I paint with matte black in the joints of the armor parts (Humbrol №33 is strongly diluted with solvent, about 1/1).
When I paint the next figure from Mars, I'll upload a detailed step-by-step photo report.

Hi Leonid,

I'm having great pleasure seeing your Knights. Very good paint. Where did you get the coat of arms from? Some heraldic source, paintings or own inspired?

Thank you, Michael!
All these coat of arms are historical. Found everything on the Internet, but I had to spend time, it's not fast))) 3-4 sources, which I use. There is also a book on this battle: "Tannenberg 1410, Disaster for the Teutonic Knights by Stephen Turnbull; Richard Hook".
This is the main source for the arms and units of the armies of this battle: https://ru.pinterest.com/lrrp1968/tannenberg-1410/

From Wikipedia it is convenient to save the image of the Coats of arms in large format, print and draw on the figure)

You did a wonderful work with these figures. I like their colours and patterns which you have painted absolutly professional. It´s only a pity that the figures itself are often quite horrible with their strange, deformated arms, necks and movements which can´t convincing me. It´s a drama that Mars didn´t have learned anything of human and equestrial anatomy and reproducing its mistakes endless in many sets which will been from their themes very interesting for many collectors. Their new announced osman headquarter-set is already lost before entering the shops.

Through the years he changed technique. If you look at the first pictures from 2012 and now you see a big difference! ;-)

Great topic! Really great topic!

The figures are painted in basic colors:

Further, dark outlines are colored contours and creases on clothes:

Thank you! Yes, the quality of the figures is low. These figures last longer to prepare for painting, than to paint!

Clear, skillful, paint knights.
Interesting to see the banners.

If I see your Humbrol cans I am really happy that I work with water based color since for a long time now.

Superb painting style Leonid ,and with the paints i use for toy soldiers too.
:eh: _If only i could dip a brush and paint them as you do.

I must admit i do have several boxes produced by MARS,and i looked at them the other day, while restocking the shelving that was freshly screwed up back into their rightful place.
Then feeling rather discouraged and daunted by such a show of figures, i placed them back into their boxes for the deep spaced out sleep. Well It is such a long way back to MARS. BB
