My Grandpa.

My dio portrays my grandfather when he returned to his village, after the battle of Scra, during WW1.

In the secondary scene, a rat seems to have double trouble, though the frightened donkey break through the gate. The two youngsters try to save what they can, but playing "war" at the same time, obviously inspired from my grandpa.

This looks exactly like a dio that I would love to look at in real life! Pictures are good and very nice, but if you could somehow send your dio on a tour to members I think we all would be very happy. The other way to do it is we all come on a visit! Great work and much love in this!

Only a man with a beautiful soul and a great hart can make such a diorama.



All the many questions I had for almost a year about 'what and how' are answered by the pictures of this final work.



I can not see the rat yet but we all expect many close ups of course.

Well done well done. The overall composition works surprisingly well. That is because you direct the attention of the spectators to the left side by different ways: there is Grandpa lifting up his youngest child, but also the scenery buildings behind him are the highest here. So it is very a-symetrical - used in a perfect way. Even Rembrandt would be satisfied with it.
Another successful decision of yours is the diagonally situated road. This saves the overall composition from becoming too square.
To my taste your use of colors for scenery and figures is remarkably good. It looks very realistic, a little bit worn out and dirty here or there, and at the same time its very colorful, romantic and attractive.

Apart from the remarkable clothing patterns that have been praised so much in your WIP report already, I have to say your use of small vegetation, grass and vegetables is as good as one can get it. Well done well done my friend.

It is a very beautiful scene, very colorful, but none of the colors are unnaturally bright. The overall quaility and the detail is so good, one might think this is a larger scale such as 1/35, not 1/72.

Dear Kostis, this is in my opinion one of the best dioramas ever seen in these pages.
It has a very unusual quality, real but difficult to reproduce in miniature and seldom seen: romanticism, balance and delicacy.

I'm sure it tells us also something about yourself...

I know I've seen all of the elements in close up while you were making them but seeing them all come together in the final scene is something quite magical.

The old tree trunk with the swing attached is just perfect for the scene.

Congratulations to your work of art.
Beginning from the roof of the house to the frame of these masterpiece.
All is done with love to detail, realism of a skillful hand.

It is unusual that nearly 2/3 of a Dio is for animals, sheep, dog, chicken ... and don`t forget the pigeons.
The dog, halve in his tube attached to a chain is nice.

My reaction to this astonishingly well executed work of art has been a bit different. Perhaps because I have a son similar in age to the one being tenderly lifted; perhaps because of all the death and misery being perpetrated on our world during the current times; perhaps knowing about about the creator's own thinking that he generously shared with us as he walked us through the steps of his work: I see a profound anti-war message in this dio. It caused me to shed more than a few tears.

It's a pleasure to be able to see your finished work. On the one hand, because you have really created a fantastic diorama. You don't show only precision of modeling, fantastic craftsmanship and love for detail. It seems you open a door and allow us a look into your soul. And what i see is the soul of a very sensitive and loving, but nevertheless tradition-conscious and proud man.

I consider it a great happiness to have met this man here.

And obviously i'm not the only one who feels that way. When reading the comments to your work i was deeply touched one more time.

I consider it also a great happiness to meet so many men who are able to see more in your diorama than a diorama.
