1/35 1956 Hungarian Uprising Diorama "Ambush"

Posted by gerry7944 on 02 Apr 2017, 08:27

This is a 1/35th diorama using the Tamiya JS3 Tank, Masterbox and Tamiya figures with a Mini art Base and several items from the spares box.

It depicts an incident during the 1956 Hungarian uprsising when after several days of unrest the Soviets sent in their tanks.

The scene was inspired by the young Chinese guy who stood in front of the tanks during the unrest in Bejing a number of years ago.

It depicta an ambush by Hungarian patriots who are just about to take on a JS3 Tank using Molotov cocktails, grenades and captured Soviet weapons.

Cheers

Gerry

Once more nice done Dio with historical back round.
Well weathered IS3.
Both man behind the wall, the one with the pistol in the corner of the bread basked.
The waving with the hand grenade. The smoker and the PPSH. What does the priest wear under his soutane?
Do not looking very comfortable for the red star.

Approximately 15 years back I saw in a WW II book from around the 70ies a destroyed IS3 in a city. The text under the pic was:
IS3 knock out in Budapest street fighting 1945. I build a WWII Dio with the Roden IS3 but in the nature.
With the use of the Internet I see the same Pic again. Done in Budapest. But not during WWII.
And I learned that no IS3 or T44 was ever used in combat in 1945. Nor on the western nor on the eastern front from the Russian point of few.

This remind me if I see your :yeah: Hungarian uprising Dio.

Looked for a long time, but they are still waiting for the attack! :eh:

Great work Gerry!
