Danube 1809

Posted by Wolfgang Meyer on 29 Mar 2017, 09:42

Here are the figures of Francesco Messori (Franznap) for our Danube diorama. Francesco has done a fantastic job here.

Francesco still makes single heads, bareheaded, with bonnet de police and with bandaged head

Franznap and Wolfgang this is great!
All those poses of walking cavalrymen, the small differences in the equipment like the plume-wraps.... and the bonnet-heads: I feel like I want to do Napoleonics again.
:notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Kostis I think Wolfgang will use Franznaps French pontoniers he presented to us last year. You can see them here:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19076

But very probably he will sculpt some extra men sitting in the pontoons to manage them and keep them from drifting and stop water leaking in while the army is crossing the pontoon bridge.

I must say that I see Francesco's participation with a tear in one eye and a smile in the other; on one hand, I love Francesco's sculpting, and it sure is great to have more hussars, especially in such interesting poses.
On the other hand, there are many other figures from Francesco I have been waiting for since long ago, mainly the Neapolitan cavalry (Chevaulegers, Veliti a Cavallo) which are in "sculpting" stage since... I don't know when. Now, I'm afraid that I will have to wait still longer because of this (great!!!) project...
But well, there are more than enough figures waiting to be painted by me in the meantime...
Cheers, Peter

For our Danube 1809 Diorama, Niels Rullkötter is developing other carts of the French train alongside the Austrian pontoons.
Here is a French ambulance. Francesco Messori (Franznap) will master the figures for an ambulance car.

The carts and wagons will be offered by schilling figures.

Wonderful stuff Wolfgang and Francesscos hussars on his Franznap site are excellent. That ambulance would have saved me a lot of chopping converting the Hat version.

Best wishes,

Chris

The first new infantrymen of Franznap are already painted. We present several complete companies of the 18th Line Regiment. Francesco currently makes a lot of unique pieces, eg. the complete flag group of the 18th Regiment. At infantry we will have about 400 figures on the diorama. The first trees for the Lobau and the Mühlau are already made. Oak trees in the leaf-stand May. Another great work by Jos Geurts!

The reference figure in the oaks is a Preiserlein in HO.
