Nice work as always.

I like the looted pictures, they are a nice touch.

Best wishes,

Thanks for that.

During my reading up of the retreat the French looted just about anything they could take with them including large paintings.

These were all lost as we know what the results of the winter was.

I wanted to show the stupidity of the things they took with them rather than food and warm clothing.

Cheers

Here are more bits and pieces for my diorama.

I have made some capes out of green stuff for these lancers and also covers for their lance penons.

I have also some artillery shakos and gun equipmentfro the debris field

I have made a dead cuirassier from the body and head of a Perry cuirassier and the legs of a dead Perry English soldier.

The wheels are metal and will be used in the debris field.

The three cavalry figures and the sledge are from the Perry retreat from Moscow range.

Cheers

Gerry

Very impressive work, Gerry. Do you model 24 hours per day?

Yes I wondered test as well.

With the metal wheels I found that by carving the wood element away you can effectively create a broken wheel rim which looks good. My Ligny project has a picture of the Prussian 1st Corps heavy artillery in trouble which illustrates this.

Chris

LOL........Funny you should say that. No I do sleep and have to do all the mundane things in life except work as I am retired from the rat race.My wife still works so once the daily chores are done I am free to indulge my passion.

Your work with greenstuff is actually quite impressive, Gerry. My attempts always end up with fingerprints all over them. :D

Thanks for the biographical information about yourself. Now I have something to look forward to when my children grow up and I can retire. Just 22 years to go, give or take.

Thanks for that.

I use surgical gloves to prevent fingerprints and lubricate the green stuff with Vaseline to stop it sticking.

I also use a small vinyl sculpting tool which can smooth the fingerprints out of the greenstuff.

Whenever I see scenes of Napoleon retreat from Russia I remember the battle of Berezina river and how I saw one scene of it in one Napooleonic movie. I also back than in 2010 wanted to make one scene on this subject my self.

Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment.

Much appreciated.

I think the retreat is the epitomy of The Napoleonic era.

It was such a tragic event which just cries out to be modelled.

This is another completed kit bashed Victrix figure.

I received my Muraski minitures in the post today and although they are quite pricey they are lovely figures. I have primed them and they are ready to paint.

I kit bashed another two figures using green stuff and various body parts from different plastic manufacturers.

Finaly in this post I have set the figures up on my desk to represent my vision of how I want the diorama to look. I have also photographed the so far finished wagons and items which will be in the debris field of the diorama

The vision is for the reargaurd to be fending off a Cossack attack while the rest of the army retreat.

The build continues.

Cheers

Gerry

@Gerry- Yeah I know. There were also other retreats thru winters by other armies which remind of Napoleon retreat.
