Siege emplacement

This is WIP and it's been that way since 2012 :eh:

I painted the larger gabions back then and started to scratch build the gun carriages for my big barrels.
The carriages never did look right and the project was shelved, ( my gall bladder exploded) apart from a little diorama with one of the mortars I did in 2015.
As I finished painting up a British gun crew I thought it was an opportunity to at least get one of my siege guns set up. I do have a completed smaller gun with brass barrel set up but in this case I'm positive that size matters. I'll be searching my stash for a suitable gun carriage :-D
I did a little painting on the emplacement as a break from the Saxons.

I think I found a suitable gun carriage. The carriage from the Italeri French Imperial Guard Artillery No.6135 takes the barrel nicely.

I painted up the gun carriage and then decided to add the planked gun platform. A bit of balsa, a ruler, a cocktail stick and a wooden skewer sorted that. Chocolate paint and and earthshade wash finished it off. This meant, of course, that the shorter middle gabions needed to be raised.

Does the gun look ok to you? It is large calibre :P

Thank you Peter.

Now, I have a spare field gun with no crew. .
I wonder when I'll get another one painted up

I'm afraid that MrsG doesn't agree with that sentiment BB.

I think I'll do another 2012 planned set next.

Break out the pack mules! :-D

Nice siege emplacement, FredG. It looks perfect and very clean: let us say: before the first shot was fired.

You mean the Benny Hill Girls? Where are they? I don't see them.

Peter once made a nice gun emplacement, the gun entirely manned by Crumpet only.

Unfortunately not Benny Hill types Mr Cryns or perhaps that should be fortunately. This type don't complain that you have too many figures ;-)

I will make no comment about his large calibre field piece :eh:
