This is a project in 1/32 scale. Using Airfix Multipose parts and a lot of GreenStuff and Magic-Sculp
Got inspired by this picture

Started with the Bren-gunner.

Still a lot of work to do

Yes,except for the knees. But I took the liberty to use the legs I already had. That's artists freedom, isn't it.

Looks great so far! And I don't have problems with the artists freedom! As long you post enough pictures to show us how the progress is going! ;-)

Update Dutch soldiers East Indies

Image

Continued my work on the Bren-gunner. I used some Magic-Sculp to make the Airfix shirt more "bulkier"
The original shirt is too tight to represent the upper part of the overall the Dutch soldiers used in the Indies. I also put a little rolle of MS beneath the belt and added a pouch at the back.
I always paint my models with an undercoat of Humbrol dark grey. That way I can see if the MS blends well into the other parts of the figure and all kinds of irregularities are visible

Image

While the Bren gunner is put aside to dry, I continue on the standing figure.
Rolls of Magic Sculp ( MS) are put above and under the belt to create a more "overall-like"appearance.
The folds in the trousers are not quite like they ought to be for an overall, but I will try to conceal that when I paint the figure.

Murphy's law in modelling: When you almost finished a figure you will discover that there already a nice and correct figure :(
At the last TWENOT meeting in Breda I got this figure from one of the visitors.
Image

Ah, well....just use it as a reference material. The pose wasn't the correct pose for my idea of the diorama

Next step will be sanding the figure and then painting

Brengunner is ready too. Now for the diorama.
Can somebody tell me how the road sign on the original picture is constructed? I think it's square and on top it's kind of triangle. The picture doesn't give good details

Paul I think the sign is a pillar of square cross section with the top corners cut off. Rather than cutting off all four corners to form a pyramid on top, I think that wo opposite corners have been cut off at approximately 45 degree angle to make a chisel blade shape.

The other possibility is a single cut from the back corner diagonally down to the front corner to produce a diamond shape, Either way the edges and corners have been rounded off by wear.

If what I've written doesn't make sense I'll have to try to draw it.

Great painting on the figures, the camouflage pattern looks very authentic and the faces are awesome!

Thanks Graeme, I know what you mean. Same thing I thought, but I wanted to get sure of it. Maybe I post a message on those Dutch Indonesian forums.
Thank you for your comments. The uniform wasn't al too difficult. Just make sure you start with a light colour and use enough water to make very thin dots. After that I use Devlan mud from Citadel colours as a filter. Works great

Finished the dio this day. I'm not sure about the roadsign, but I made it with the information I had.
It was quite a challenge to make this dio. The picture I used wasn't all too clear, but I think it represents the atmosphere well
