Separate 1:72 heads - anyone up for it?

Posted by zirrian on 30 Sep 2016, 07:40

Hi folks,

Anyone knows if there are medieval head packs on the market? I ordered a box of Strelets Medieval Crossbowmen, but the heads are really bad for the most part, and I don't really want to buy an entire box just for the heads, so I'd like to ask if anyone knows a place that sells 1:72 medieval heads, or alternatively, if anyone plans to do to. Sadly greathelms are not suitable, I need infantrymen heads - bare headed, mail coif, padded, kettle hat and so on and so forth.

Thanks in advance

Conny at Fredericus Rex (good shop) should be the right person to answer that! Valdemar Figures have some lose heads already, but they are in existing sets so quite expensive to come by.

Idea..get two sets ..
one of the Revell/Accurate Hundred Years War English Men-At-Arms

and one of the Airfix /HäT Robinhood

Virtually every head of the 90 plus bods can be used for headswops

I actually have both of those sets, even doubles of the Revell/Accurate set...and I'd like to paint all of them. My problem with getting heads for headswaps would be all the leftover headless bodies I could use for something if I had any heads for them :(

The "leftover " bodies is a bit of a waste but with the Revell set some of the weapons and shields / Bucklers can be re-cycled, with carefull snipping even the crossbows from both poses...spare crossbows are a bit rare and they can be used to replace some of the Basic looking ones from the strelets set ;-)
A lot of Body swopping is possible, using bottom or top halves swopped onto other bottom or top halves from other sets, similar to what Mars did (IMHO, not particually well) with thier Burgundian Sergeants and Archers set.

At the end of the day..the Revell and airfix (HäT re-issue) sets are, when compared to buying sets of heads only, very cheap, so even if you can´t find a use for the bodies the loss isn´t so great.

Hm, I guess you're right...I'll use those heads till someone makes replacements :) And for bodyswaps, I do that regularly, not sure if you've seen my Ancient Gaul thread here (that I should continue at one point, even tho not much progress have been made). And while those Mars cavalrymen not the best indeed, at least it gave me an idea to make mounted sergeants I'm struggling to find anywhere in great numers :)

For Mounted archers I´d use different Sets....Minart, Zvezda and Redbox, the bottoms from Zvezda..like These ;-)

I mostly need melee-oriented sergeants, but thanks for the suggestion :) Btw, sent a few emails about some figures you offered for sale, but I guess you missed those ;) Where can I contact you now?
