Guides te paard 1815 Dutch (conversion)

Another project on the workbench.

Because I found my spare-parts box back! I couldn't find it for years and some weeks ago I went on a discovery tour in my "cave"with my 7-year old grandson. Suddenly I saw a pretty well-known but lost box.
So, now I'm able to maken my long wanted projects.

This is one of them.
I used the horse of the British dragoon, The saddle of the polish lancer( modified with Magic Sculp), torso of the figure is the Rifleman, head of French soldier. I'm going to change the position of the left arm with Magic Sculp. ( Bill Horan way)

Seeing the pictures.... still a lot of sanding to do

A little update on the horse.
The shabraque is painted in the correct colour with several layers of blue shades. I used Citadel Lahmian medium for the last layer. It gives the acrylic paint a matt finish.
The red emblem of a W and a crown is a bit of a problem. It's too small to paint it properly, so I only gave a suggestion

Continuing with the figure. Now it's a bit of a puzzle. How to construct his left arm?
I'm trying to put several bits and pieces together. Found a good hand in my spares-box of multi-pose figures( Airfix, German soldiers)

OK, this evening I've worked on the figure. Added a moustache and it really makes a difference. Also reworked the chako. Then on to the jacket. Bit of a problem though. I had to fizzle the tail part between the blanket and the body. First tried to make it with Magic Sculp but that didn't work. I ended up making it with lead-foil .
The shoulderwings are made of the wings of the Airfix black watch and covered with MS. I exaggerated it a bit for the right effect.
No painting yet and the pics are a bit overexposed( sorry for that  )
Still a lot of reworking and sanding to do

Update Guide te paard

Finished the face and headgear of the figure. The face is painted in oils. When it dried completely I put a ligt wash of orange over the face, also in oils. Uniform and shako painted with Valejo and Citadel acrylics.
Uniform is not ready yet. It still has to be matted down.

It might be my eyes, but the arm seems a wee bit long. However Paul, putting my opinion aside now the finished work looks terrific and i like it very much. BB

I think you're right with the right arm. Looking at the figure I felt something isn't right. But if you work constantly at a figure you get a kind of blind spot. Thanks for noticing.

This is the way I paint my figures. Painting is done with Citadel acrylics and some Valejo colours.
Figure is now almost done.
