Ancient Greeks

As a child, I loved to pick up books in my parent's library, and among my favorites were the Iliad and Odyssey, because I loved the old fashioned illustrations representing hoplites, especially their round shields (hoplôn in ancient greek) with mythological figures painted on.

The first 1/72 figures I was offered were the Ancient Greeks by Atlantic. At that time (I was ten), I decorated them with the pens issued with Playmobil colors I will try to make some pictures one of these days...

Years (not to say decades) after that, I bought one box of hoplites by Zvezda and began to paint them with acrylics, then remembered how much I loved the Atlantic ones and decided to paint them the same standard.

Here are a few pictures of the result - what do you think of it ? Do the Atlantic figures bring you childhood memories ?

I will for sure painting some Greeks after Waterloo. I have two projects planned:
- DBA II/45c Spartacus army (I need some tough guy challenging my Republican Romans);
- DBA I/52e,f Early Hoplites (I am already foretasting the bliss to see colorful shields and spears lined up for battle)
