Alliance minis - some scale comparisons please?

Posted by zirrian on 08 Nov 2014, 23:12

A friend of mine convinced me to play some LotR with him, using 28mm minis. I'll get a few goblins, but problem is, they are pretty expensive, while the Alliance minis are pretty cheap compared to them. So I thought maybe using Dark Alliance orcs as goblins for 28mm, but I could not find a comparison pic between Moria Gobbos and any kind of orcs from the Alliance line. Can someone help the poor me out? My eternal gratitude would follow him or her :)

If it's just for the size , I don't have pictures of comparison with some other gobelins.
I'm currently painting the Set 3 (Orcs) and I've painted the Half-Orcs (set 2) that's all.
But you can have some idea of the size (they are quite small) here: "Cheap Fantasy Minis"

I found this site yesterday, but thanks :) Worst case scenario, I'll buy a box and see if they are okay. Price for one from Hannants is about 8 pounds, but I think I can get them cheaper if I order from Ukraine (they are my neighbours), so even if they aren't okay, I won't feel ripped off. And as I saw the contents of the boxes, I'm positively sure one of each will be more than enough to make a complete arms :)

I hope you find the more affordable ones you require, and have every success with them. My Motto when shopping on line is,"Ask for combined postage when buying!" BB

How big is a goblin or an Orc? It seems to me size varies & you'd have a fair bit of leeway.

Considerably smaller, so a 1:72 orc could pass as a 28mm goblin. Thanks to SamSagace, I can get a box for cheap to check them (9 euros and free postage - beat that, Evil Empire residing in Nottingham!). Thanks for all the help - I'll post comparison pics here when I get them.

I have some Mines of Moria goblins and some Alliance orcs. They're about the same size. I can put together a comparison shot if you still need it.

Better late than never! Here's a Caesar Minias orc, and Alliance orc, a "Mines of Moria" goblin, and Sven the 1/72 scale comparison Viking.
