Going on a safari.....

Posted by dykio on 22 Feb 2009, 21:52

hi Guys,

I was looking at the Hát site and came upon pictures of war elephants. (Brillaint painted btw). But there were also some tigers and a jaguar (i think thats the name). Does anyone know if there is a set containing such animals. I know there are lions in the airfix/tarzan set but i don;t know if there are other sets with wild animals. :help: .... So help is wanted

Thanks

Dykio

Italeri's gladiators got lion and tiger. The only other sets I remember are Airfix's Zoo-sets, but they are long gone. :(

I know they're not the Airfix animals or the Italeri Lion from their Gladiator set (6062; which has a lion and bear). I looked those up last night. Maybe they're metal figs?

None of the plastic animals look (as good) as the tigers and leopards in those pictures at HäT. I think they've sculpted them themselves.

Edit: you could try some Preiser animals, though they would be somewhat too small.

Has anybody tried contacting the painter? I think he's Dutch, correct? Does anybody here know him?

I really love this contribution. I think it is a great paintjob. The Coates & Shine Elefant sets looking bad when unpainted so it was a suprise what you can make out of this set.

In the UK the Early learnng centre (kids toys etc) used to produce 1/72 scale jungle animals, so maybe its something like that

Dykio, there was a message for you on the strelets forum from Käptn Blaubär:

Hi,

Tell Dykio, the other animal is probably meant to be a cheetah (or Gepard in German), not a Jaguar (which cannot be found in Africa anyway, but only in Central and South America), and it's from the Airfix Tarzan set:
