I am reading "The last battle" from Cornelius Ryan. It is very interesting and full of informations.

I think you know his other books: The longest day & A bridge to far

Thirty Years War era books:
A.L. Berridge - Honour and Sword, and In the Name of the King
about France in late 1630s and 1640 (Rocroi). Absolutley brilliant historical fiction
Pierre Pevel The Cardinal's Blades, and The Alchemist in the Shadows
on the fantasy side but set in same time period

Yes, this is the final part. But in this book, the last weeks of WWII in Europe are described. The struggle in the East and West. Like the other books it is very interesting. I can only recommend it.

Taking a break from Cornwell's Saxon Chronicle (in Swedish and not everything published yet), Martin's Song of Ice and Fire (a couple of books left to write :? ), Peter Englund's book about WWI (that book NEEDS pauses!). Now I'm reading Last Stand by Nathaniel Philbrick (ISBN 978-0-099-52124-2) about Custer's last stand. So far (page 11  ) a pretty good read.

Just finished the third installment of Cornwell's Saxon Chronicles; now switching gears to The Hunger Games, which while a "children's story", seems to be the choice of everyone on the train!!

I'm currently reading two different books: Nation (Terry Pratchett) and The second kingdom (Rebecca Gable).
Well - I dont know which one I'll finish first.

My current bathroom reading:

Image

Painting Miniatures by Danilo Cartacci.

Meat and potato kind of how-to book. Rare but if you can find a copy, it is totally worth the price.

Looks like I'm in a WildWest-period right now. After finishing Last Stand by Nathaniel Philbrick (very good), I've read a Swedish book about Custer's last stand and now from a tip from our friend mekelnborg started with Little Big Man by Thomas Berger. Great movie and great book! After that I plan to read The Return of Little Big Man by the same author. Got nothing to do with the movie though, it's from 1999. After that I will try to get back to my Medievals, or at least find some other period! :-D

Well with the hobbit coming up I thought I would re-rerad all my toilkien books

Right now I am reading about the Third age in the Unfinnished tales
Then I am onto to:
The Silmarilion... A notoriusly hard read, already read it 2x
The Children of Hurin... read it once
Tales from the perilous lands... Not sure if that is what it was called I don't have it to hand....Read it once
The Lord of the Rings...All three...read them all once
and to top it all off, if my friend would have finnished reading it in time.... The Hobbit...read it twice....has been read to me once...and I read 3/4 of it but then the dog chewed up the book and I had to buy a new one and start over
Wow that is alot of books  . I may read at a respectable pace but can I read all that before the release of the Hobbit an Unexpected Journey?

I´m reading "The Art of War" by Nicolau Machiavel, excellent for renaissance warfare and also some lessons for all times. Iit is very interesting how evident it is that he read Vigécious' book.
