Hey everyone. Just to show that I still do 1/72nd stuff, I decided to enter the last competition. I didn't do as well as some, but I was reasonably happy with the results. If I was doing it again though, I would take more care to remove the mould lines and to make the ground match the feet.
The figures are from Pegasus's US Marines in Vietnam. I was browsing Militaryphotos.net net one day a year or two back and came across this photo...
I now knew exactly where Pegasus had got their inspiration from. Calos Hathcock was a famous Marine sniper during the Vietnam war and this picture was of him and his spotter. Later he would go on to do some sniping with an M2 Heavy machinegun...
The Pegasus figures didn't need much modification to make them match the photo, I just added a scope and mixed up various Vallejo greens until I got one I was happy with.
The background came from an online travel brochure which I printed out and propped up at the back.
Thank you to all who voted for me and congratulations to the (well deserved) winners.
