I noticed telephone lines, but how about street lamps? Did they use lanterns attached to their homes as modelled in some of the resin kits available on the market?
Chass

As far as I know street lamps (straatlampen) were used and without a doubt there might be some attched to housing but most were stand alone posts.

In Oosterbeek all streetlamps were on the pavement. And stand alone.
Not attached to houses.
A significant detail: there was rails in the main road through Oosterbeek, The Utrechtseweg. Rails for a tram (sort of short city train).
And the road had on both sides big trees.

Here is a pic form the painting by David Shepherd: Oosterbeek Crossing 22 sept 1944:
http://www.artforsurvival.org/acatalog/info_593.html
The original hangs in the Airborne museum in Oosterbeek.

David Shepherd made also a painting of the siege of the Arnhem Bridge.
In Holland the book of Cornelius Ryan "A brigde too far" had a cover made of that painting.
I have a reproduction of that one here.

That looks really awesome. Just so you know I have already destroyed all armor and infantry in and around Arnhem playing Medal of Honor "Airborne". I will give the all clear to proceed!!!
