Naw, but I'm old enough to understand how profound a song like Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound is.

Regret and getting wasted... mmm wow  Profound wouldn't be the term I'd use, but you go with it squire.

Maybe I could make a million writing songs like "men do stupid things", "I got drunk again because I'm angry", and "I cheated again because I am incapable of self control" All to a country sound track of course!

This is the great problem with materialists like my good buddy parsons here...no genuine appreciation for the Human condition.

Sir Tom you mean... he has an amazing ability to use a guitar in a unique way. Nightwatchman is a bit like him trying to be normal again... I reckon some of his best work is on early rage and mid audioslave, was never a chris cornell fan though.

Not true dude- every appreciation for others human condition. Just think people should not do these things, not do them and apologise later. :nono: Responsibility dude, a true adult persuit, like not legging it to the pub instead of visiting you inlaws- erk!
Thats my right wing side- Law and Order.

Reminds me of a joke:
"When I was a child I used to pray every night for a bicycle, then eventually I realise God doesn't work that way, so I stole one and prayed for forgiveness"

Right...I should have said no appretiation for the Human condition unless it involves living standards.

A song like Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound is The Fall, it's John Calvin...it is the essential riddle of consciousness. Why do we do things that we know are wrong...it torments us...as you know.

5000 years from now, if people are still around, they'll hear that song and nobody will have to wonder what Bochefous was talking about.

Yeah but beer and peanuts philosophy is hardly profound? I have no doubt there will be people sat around getting mashed and reckoning the world up in 5000 years time, but I pray that Mr Williams name does not echo alongside that of Shakespeare, Orwell or Voltaire... good god- slide guitar would even ruin animal farm.

Let's not confuse the object (Mr Williams with his beard and dark glasses...the steel guitar) with the sentiment...an understandable lapse for someone of your point of view.

Orwell nah...Voltaire never...Shakesphere, well that's a possibility considering they both come from rural areas and speak in plain language... :P .

As for beer and peanuts...I don't know how you would approach ethics or aesthetics without dealing with this issue.

Da singer looks like Andreas Johnson (who has turned to swing music on his latest CD and TV-shows. I think his voice is to quiet for that, the horn section drowns him). :nono:

It isn't Andreas Johnson, thats for sure. Andreas Johnson has a good voice but only a few good songs. :(

I'm a real Starsailor fan at the moment. I've listened all their CD's on my iPod at Rheinberg. It's so relaxing when you paint. :-)

A couple of weeks ago, one of the local morning Sports (read SEC football) shows started using this song for bumper music...and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lM-w58JUfbM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lM-w58JUfbM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I wasn't ever the biggest fan of them or Uncle Tupelo, but I do like this song.

...and Son Volt always reminds me of one of their most obvious influences...

Definitely a favorite of mine.

Hey Benno,
That was not the only reason that you listened to you Ipod: The main reason was that his German is terrible

The Buzzcocks were so good...and that song is untouchable.

Along those lines...
