Fun, certainly, because you will have only a few seconds to recognize all the heraldric patterns worn on the battlefield, a good challenge, don't you think ?

There´s one or two already recognisable during the lanceless / Caparisonless cavalry Charge (Battle of Loudoun Hill ?*) at...1min 38 secs
Beauchamp (Gules, a fesse between six cross crosslets or) to the far right mounted on the black nag.
Albret, far left (Gules)
Percy (Or, a lion rampant azure) 1min 34 - Middle of screen
Wether any of them were there at the battle...if it´s Loudoun Hill ..??

*Aymer de Valence´s Standard is missing?

EDIT;- It is 98% likely Loudoun hill. The actor Sam Spruell can be seen at 2.08 riding along the line and he is acting as Aymer de Valence in the film

oh...and it appears the film of him inspecting the line..is in mirror Image...swords, shields, Lances (where there are any) Held in the "wrong Hands" and the Lion rampant on Sam Spruell´s surcoat back to front

Looks like something I'd be more than happy to zombie watch if I was on a long haul flight.

Oh! who am I fooling, if I see this at a decent price I'll be buying the DVD to watch at home. Looks like exactly the sort of thing I uaually enjoy. Also, I'm quite looking forward to hearing people complain that there's no tartan or blue painted faces. :xd:

Re the heraldry, at 1minute 03 seconds and 1minute 39 seconds:

Argent, chief azure with three stars; I think this must be Douglas. well done to the film makers for not including the crowned heart.

Watched it yesterday. IMHO, the film was not worth the time spent making it. The battle at the end was ok..but apart from that, not a lot. TBH, Braveheart is more entertaining

Edward II at the battle of Loudoun hill? Possibly but nothing much is known about what he was doing in scotland at the time.. Anyway, lets say he was there as in the film.
He gets left alone after De Valence calls the retreat, gets surrounded by scottish bods and they let him go when they could have captured him !!? They let him walk away!!!!! ? Their biggest enemy and they let him stagger off !!!!? A Bargaining chip without end of value and they let him totter off home!!!!!?

This, after some other small dubious historical fact twisting *to get the good versus bad Story line as was done in braveheart, really did for the media Claims of it being historically "accurate".
Although, the good v bad Story line works way better in Braveheart. In this film I couldn´t give a toss who won.

Edward I dies before the battle !? Nope.
The english appear to attack downhill...? Nope

The Punch up on the beach with the Clan MacDougall? Is that supposed to be The Battle of Dalrigh or later when he really did have so few men left? If it is Dalrigh then he should have nearly 500 men..not 50.

*Elizabeth de Burgh etc captured at Kildrummy?? They weren´t. Captured by Edward I..? nope, it was William, Earl of Ross.and not at a Castle and *therefore wouldn´t have seen the death of de Bruce´s brother
*Elizabeth hung up in a Cage? I don´t think so. Roberts sisters were but her??
His (Roberts Father 6th Lord of Annandale ) dies in a chair at home mumbling an "I told you so" telling prophesy? Nope
And did he (Robert de Brus, 6th Lord of Annandale) take part in the 9th crusade? His father possibly but him?

I saw the movie yesterday.
It looks like nobody cares about historical facts anymore.
Skin matter the battles are as brutal and bloody as possible.
Who is interested in the history of Scotland in the Middle Ages
should read books.
Or actually see BRAVEHEART.

Or place them out of context for emotional effect.
Maybe the Producer is trying to beat Braveheart for the most historical innacuracies

I my self preffere more Osprey book about battles. With accurate topographical 3D isometric map of terrain armies and others. But than again it isn-t about what we enthusiast of history want, it is what large audience wants since they give the money. For me all today movies are CGI flashy bright colors with much bloody scenes and dark story that shock people. I my self like more 50 to 200 live soldiers fighting in zoomed camera than 10 million Blender computer soldiers.
