Gettin’ Caught by My Neighbors

A very good idea! I could tell them, for instance, that parking your car in the garage is totally overrated. They could use the space for housing a wonderful collection of dioramas instead.

Well, painting of the figures is finished, more or less.

Now I start to complete the painting of interior of The Hexagon. The movable items to be added during the final assembly are already done, but the walls themselves are unpainted yet.

Thank you for all your comments and the encouragement!

Due to some of days with bad weather, the temptation to spend much time outdoors was not that big, and I’ve made good progress. Painting the interior of The Hexagon is essentially complete:

Some final paint layers are still missing – dirt, patina, toxic waste, alien slime, you name it. But this should be done rather quickly, so there is hope that perhaps one week from now, everything will be complete and I can start to take the pictures.

Alien biohazard - are the space Romans afraid of this?
This gets better and better
... a curious spectator in the last row
By the way, where will be the Circus Games Show?

Nope, they have these specialized hazmat guys to deal with such matters.

Michael Robert wrote:By the way, where will be the Circus Games Show?

An interesting question, but one that I can't really answer, The only thing I know for sure is that I will NOT try to build a complete Roman circus in this scale with its generous space requirements ...

So here comes a little progress. The Tunnel is almost complete now. As with all tunnels, taking pictures with sufficient light is an issue, so here are two pics using a flash. They look terrible, as diorama/figure/model photography with a flash always does…

This picture here gives a better impression of the atmosphere I want to achieve:

The front wall is removable, while the rest is mounted together for better stability. And the best thing: This is probably the first diorama ever that comes with its own, integrated beverage holder:

Cheers!

Here are some pictures of the final rehearsal, before I started to glue all this stuff together. As you will notice, I have used some dummies instead of the real figures:

Meanwhile, almost everything is done, and right now I’m waiting for various layers of glue, paint and varnish to dry.

The next step will be: “let the games begin!”

Du schießt den Vogel ab.

To use these dummies instead of figures ... Oh my good is this -stupid.
Tears in my eyes. Such a :joker: .

All members of this forum lacked 1/72 figures. They are so rare. So instead we use Dummies !

Das is sooo - - -- doof !

The building inside so for I can see between my tears is nice.

The management would like to stress the fact that these dummies were used for testing purposes only and will not be part of the final diorama. Furthermore, the management points out that the red-and-white striped tablecloth seen on several photographs will not be part of the final diorama either, should this question arise.

And exactly this is the real fun :-D :yeah: part.

In all my Dio`s never a, Mensch ärger dich nicht Stein, (simple wood token) or similar thing was used for test or dry fit.
Always figures, in different pose, high, width, length, look. But never a simple armless, footless, faceless wood token.

I am so sorry sberry, but with this placed dummies you make my day. :-D :-D :-D

Hi Sberry,
didn't know the Romans made it to Mecklenburg. Maybe that's where they landed after they had enough of space, space cakes and biohazard. No good brewery where I live.
Your dio is taking shape. Ridley's influence can still be reckognized as in your earlier space dios. Really cool
Hope there will be more surprises coming next
Greetings
Michael

Suddenly, huge amounts of terrifying, tentacle-like structures appear everywhere, shining in a most unnatural shade of fluorescent yellow. Clearly, something horrible must have happened on the space station, so terrible that the inhabitants had to leave it in haste. Or perhaps they had no chance to leave at all – but where are they then?

Let us hope that the crew of the SPQR-1701 Tiberius is able to solve this ghastly mystery before the unspeakable evil spreads throughout the galaxy…

Well, after people realized what is really going on on my premises, lots of accommodation space in my neighborhood became available. So if you want to move over here …
But there is also another option: You can watch the story from the safe distance of your computer screen, because right now everything is finished and I have started the photo sessions.

I always tried to find the optimum background for presenting my dioramas. But to build a diorama, and then a second one, just as background dummy for the first one, is really new to me. And frankly speaking, I’m not intending to make this a permanent habit.
So I will present the whole stuff in two rounds:
First, as a gallery of pictures in the usual way, this will feature mainly The Hexagon, since this is the “real” diorama.
Step 2 will be the movie, featuring both The Tunnel and The Hexagon. I can’t promise anything, and the release of the movie is very unlikely before autumn or winter.
But here are some first appetizer pics of The Tunnel, without figures yet:
