1.32 Carabiniers

Posted by FredG on 25 May 2018, 19:36

I thought I'd take a look at A Call To Arms 1.32 figures so ordered a set of Carabiniers.

Being much larger than my usual 20mm I thought the detail would be better.

I've now used my sessions for the past two days cleaning off the mould lines. These seem to be proportionately the same as on the smaller figures. Larger figures larger mould lines.

They've been washed off and now I'm just waiting for them to thoroughly dry before priming.

Rather unfortunate that the four horses are all in the same pose a couple of different ones would have been my choice.

The Carabiniers are in four different poses and really look ok at this stage. The most noticable thing to me so far is that the bigger figures require................................

.....bigger stakes :P :yeah:

These are BBQ skewers.

Onward

Very good presentation of point from the one on the left BTW.

I was interested in getting this set some years ago. Finally I will see them painted.

I threw the main colour blocks onto the Carabiniers. They'll look better that way while I sort the horses.

Now the horses do need sorting. I keep experimenting with the horses in the smaller scale and with these I wanted to start brown and gradually darken them with a series of black washes.

My normal black of choice is an acrylic ink so I chose a red- brown ink to start the horses. It was sold to me as an acrylic but it certainly didn't behave as such. A day later it was still wet. So much for drying to waterproof if it doesn't dry. Anyway, a quick dip under the tap and the ink flushed away. I now have four red-brown tinged greys. The black ink bottle will be out very shortly and it will be a black base washed with brown. ( He's trying something different yet again).

Onwards :yeah:

So far so good Fred!

Is there a reason why you paint the flesh, in this case the face, later as the other colours?
