They do look rather strange! ___Well i did e`m so that explains it. :-D
Sea creatures perhaps? :eh: ! :eh:! :eh:! :eh:! :eh: Eh!

The inner roofs were painted and dry brushed today,
and both have reached my limited skill level of such up and down brushing activity.
The Hay upon the roof starts tomorrow if i can find a ladder for those tiny Asterix fellows to help out a wee bit . I have looked forward to seeing that.

In the background lay Mrs B`s collected plastic bottle tops, and over 10.000 bricks now awaiting plunk plunk, the colour-wash dipping`s. BB

Lots of ongoing work is taking place, but not by me. The house is undergoing a full burner and radiator change, and Mrs B,is painting walls and other stuff.
____So this topic is on hold,as i am presently assigned to writing only strange story book tales. The house is far to busy to do anything else. ;-) BB

Sweet toys for a big boy Peter. :-D
Very nice to see you here Peter, and Paul too recently helping out with pictures.
Hopefully a home coming pattern like old times.

Workwise,
I ain`t that busy now,far to many workman about the place. I feel like putting on overalls to sort of blend in. :eh: O`,dear me. It really distressed me seeing my stuff tidied away into boxes.

Image

:coffee: As soon as the pipes and radiators are installed in the Honey Well room,I`m running noisy trains all the live long day`s until not a workman remains in our banged about home.BB

The black paint was dry-brushed with white and then a hint of yellow was added to the white and simply dry-brushed on too. Sure it will be covered over on the outside but it is a me thing! That fully allows the camera`s eye to pick out more interest, and a much more pleasing look to the texture of the work ,rather than just all you guys eyeing black. :-D It`s a comfy thing OK?

Image

So here we go again upon the Asterix merry go round, with the start of more thatching being put into place. As I determined just where I would start, the pieces were cut to size folded in half and once more the twist in that middle section was quickly put into place. If you remember it was this twist that made it possible for each row put into place to stay put, and not fall out during the process of building up row upon row of hairy overlapping?

Image

Now then, having never attempted a round roof before i decided to start on the over hanging inner rim first. This will be folded up over the rim and stuck onto the outside of the roof, and then the first course of thatch can be laid over this to form a more pleasing edge to the first roundhouse of experimentation. It will be interesting I think, well I hope so anyway for all those logging on an eyeball upon this work in progress. Hopefully there will be much for myself to learn that will help other type builds. :-D BB

Having that natural tendency of having things go wrong, and wishing to fold the ends up to right.
i began this penchant tapping.

Image

I am sure the Gauls will not mind. As they are far to busy holding up the sky.

Image

:coffee: O Dear ,how do I fold all those brushy edge over onto the top?

 "BB`s stumped!"

Often is the case one is bowled a curved ball.

Image

 " Wickets gone you`re out!"
___ :coffee: I will just have to re-read the MAGIC BEANO BOOK of 1949.
Yes I`m sure the plans were there upon the last page.

Image And so it was fudged out.

But!
It was a case of owning up. Bookworms :read: :read: :read: :read: :read: :read: :read: :read: :read: :read: :read: ate the instructions. :read: "We all owned up."___ :read: "It`s the old paper and ink. We just love it."

:coffee: Never in the history of BEANO ANNUALS has so much been eaten up by so few.
:sst: " that kinda rings a bell."

Eventually the nights silence is broken by the wet sound of white glue splodging !

 "It is 2.AM in the morning!"

Image

Image

Image

Soon the splodging deed was done.

Image
A wee bit tatty but well worth £21.00

:coffee: Lucky me.The instructions were on the last page in THE DANDY BOOK of 1949
See Yah! BB

I was thinking along the lines of the Huns helmet with fir around the rim and the
wicked spike centered on the top,as I was working on the second one tonight. :-D BB

Was it as convincing a fantasy as this as the leader of the Mongol hordes?

I would like to draw attention to the wire I fixed onto the top surrounding the smoke hole.
These were designed to give good anchorage for the lifting off handle.

Image

So having reached a point in the thatching work the inside rim was duely formed with the glue and plumbers hemp and the work popped into place as planed. This work will give a good fixing point when the last wave of fluffed up hemp is laid on the outside double curved edge to finish each of these easy to make roof tops off. These will be finished off during the blitz of this weeks hobby work.
The Repetition System certainly does work.

Image

Always In keeping with this Asterix building project the smoke hole remains open and intact. So steamy smoke can rise slowly from them for video clip shooting.

A good friend on the Forum sent me some good Asterix & Obelix figures as a gift which was very good of him,( Thanks A Plenty! ) ,and they will certainly come colourfully into character when painting figures resumes. BB

Good Morning :-D it is 08.13,and I make the first start of flaxing!

Image

It feels good to arrive at my favourite spot in the scratch building.

Image

I have allowed for a good overhang to the first row stuck on,this can be neatly trimmed off later.
Thanks for commenting Gunnar. :-D BB

The happy go lucky work is proceeding quite well.
Another three courses to lay and this one will be finished.

I'll prepare a space in the bottom greenhouse in preparation. It should fit in well with the other carnivores.
