As you will probably know I like my troops to be filthy as I feel it reflects reality.

I was wondering if your flag is perhaps too clean and tidy? Perhaps a bit of weathering and a few holes would give it a battered look?

Just a thought.

Best wishes,

Chris

Chris

Yes I still have to weather the figures and the flag.

I will do this once I have finished all the figures and have the base ready for them.

Problem is I am finding it difficult to stop adding figures.

I must do so shortly before I run out of funds.

Guys..... Another batch of figures finished.

My converted Wurtemburgers, a couple of Grenadiers, a line Infantry man, an Infantryman heeding the call of nature (which is brave in Russia) This model will be enhanced with work on the urine to make it more realistic.

I have also completed the Perry gun handlers which will be added to the large camp fire I am constructing using a T light battery operated flickering candle,Miliput, some pieces of wood. Once the Miliput has cured I will add some sand and paint the ground to represent ash I will also add a few more bits of wood and branches and add some smoke with the padding from the Perry figure boxes. Hopefully it will look realistic with the flickering fire effect.

Finaly an overview of all the figures I have painted to date sort of laid out in the configuration I am looking for. Although this may change in the finished model.

Cheers

Gerry

I have completed a few more figures for the diorama.

The dead figures have been modified to represent dead French soldiers.

The vivandier and officer are metal castings.

I have completed the bonfire for the diorama and I think you can see the effect of the flickering T light in the photographs.

I have purchased some Cossacks from Perry miniatures and will be starting on them soon.

Cheers

Your blue background support the cold to me.
For luck I get a cup of hot tea beside.

Your idea with the stating fire, bit smoke, thin black spot at the wood is very good.
As the gap to see inside. :yeah:
Did you paint the fire? Or do you use clear plastic paint with clear red, orange color?

Such pose of the riding man especially with the pistols, sword should be available in 1/72 too.

Nice paint and modified soldier.

Tea and fire worked!
I feel me now more comfortable.
Or is it the cat sit down on my lab?

Thanks for your supporting kind words. They are very much appreciated.

No I did not paint the fire it is actualy built around a flickering T light candle which is battery operated.

I am pleased with the effect as it looks like the fire has just taken hold .

Had a wee break for a week or two on this and have returned to it.

Here are some more Perry Cossacks for my horde along with some tree stumps and trees I have completed for the diorama. They still have to have snow on them which I will do when they are based on the diorama.

Cheers
