28mm Retreat from Russia Diorama

Posted by gerry7944 on 04 Mar 2017, 18:37

For years I have wanted to attempt a diorama of Napoleons retreat from Russia during the 1812 campaigne.

I have decided to realise this ambition and have started to paint and aquire euipment for this mamoth task.

These are some figures I have finished painting and they are mostly Perry miniatures from their retreat from Moscow range.

These figures are actualy Victrix and other manufacturers which I have kit bashed using diffrent heads and adding scarfs and mittens with green stuff. They are not entirly finished yet but nearly.

This next lot are equipment and wagons I have collected which will all be part of the diorama. This includes a kit bashed figure of Marshal Ney which I made from a Victrix body,a metal head and green stuff.

This next lot are figures I have still to paint. They are mostly Perry from their retreat from Moscow range but there are a few front rank there as well.

I think this is going to take a while?

Kekso

I use Deluxe materials shoveled snow and scatter snow with ice sparkles.

IMHO I think this looks the most realistic.

Michael

Thanks for that.

Much appreciated.

I will have to see how it goes as the size of the base could be an issue.

I would love to include some cossacks though.

Can't wait to see this progressing Gerry!
Also think a few Cossacks will add a whole new dimension to your diorama..... which is surely going to be an incredible work of art. Good luck!

There are several realistic looking pose. And a lot of clothes that are added to the Uniform. That will show us the madness and the cold.

Look like a a lot of painting time for the future.
Wish you a lucky hand, enough fine brushes right color and the power to finish your project.

This is the last batch of my Perry retreat from Moscow Infantry figures.

I will be moving on to some Marowski Polish Infantry from their retreat from Moscow range and Perry Cavalry, Sled. and possibly some Cossacks.

This next batch are some Victrix cannons and cannon barrels I will be using as my debris field in the diorama

These are Some Muskets boxes, wagons and dead horses I will be using in the debris field also.

I have added some Green stuff covers to the wagons and made a small casualty group using the hand cart with some Victrix figures and green stuff. I also added some wooden boards to the wheels and the back legs of the cart as I reckon this is what they would have done to turn it into a make shift sleigh.

The other items are self explanatory.

Cheers
