12mm Roman Van Dyck Models & Figurines.

When working on my Roman cohort, I often thought how to paint a whole legion.
But in 1:72 ?
Perhaps on a smaller scale.
So I have found these very nice Romans by a Belgian manufacturer.

The plastic Roman looks like a giant next to this white metal one.
Incredible how much detail this 12mm one has.
Especially the German tribes look excellent, based on the latest research material I collected myself too.
Kristiaan Van Dyck, if you ever read this, tell us how you managed to do this sculpting and the casting is terrific too.
Only the heads of the Romans are exaggerated and big.
The Germans have better proportioned heads I think.

I hope this does not mean you have to start all over again.
In a small scale like 15mm and Playmobil scale full Roman legions are already painted and produced.
The whole point about your work is you are making a 1/72 scale full size legion
So you achieve something that hasn't been done before.
Or am I wrong?

These 12mm Van Dyck Romans are excellent for decorating a camp or town model. I wonder if these are the same manufacturer as the Romans displayed in the Haltern Roman Museum:

Yes you are right. I even met this man, Thomas Kurtz, at Dioramica.
A very nice gentleman. I forgot about the scale of this legion. But he did not paint this himself. I think he payed Sri Lankese ladies to paint it for him.

That's not a fair game compared to your hard effords, Konrad, or what do we think of it?

If he really did not paint them himself, it is his business.
But it is a bought one.
That's not my thing.
All I show in the forum I have made myself.
And so it should be.

I have some good inside information, that Mr Kristiaan Van Dyck is painting every Friday evening a lot of his own figures!
