Painting 54mm Zulus

Posted by Beano Boy on 31 Jan 2016, 00:04

Today all the figures have been washed.
Tomorrow Sunday 31/01/2016,the actual work of undercoating will begin.
The loose shields will be painted at the same time ,but kept separate from the figures until all the painting is finished. Then they can be glued on with waterproof glue.

I expect to finish these hopefully within a week.

I`ll be painting one of each pose from each box set. So 18 Figures in total.
These are the first of the 840 Zulus that make up my first Regiment of Zulus.
I`ll show them when they are finished. Untill then, " SHAKA ZULU!" BB

Looking forward to the painted Zulu regiments! I'm curious if these paint as easy as the 1/72 scale ones. ;-)

Peter, you are the only one that can answer that question.

Gunnar it`s easy to follow along, all you have to do is follow the paint spills and splashes on Mrs B`s, once clean floor.

THE PICTURE

My old painting table. Not a pretty sight, but a good start and with two dozen undercoated. All at the starting line now waiting for the off.

A dark brown undercoat would be good ,and used as a base color too,but i use what i have.
So white it is.One thing for sure there will be no dizzy dotted eyes painted that make one sea sick looking at them. he, he, he!
Good Fun so far guys, takes my mind off being________ so dam i`ll.
I will finish painting these tomorow,*Tuesday 02/02/2016____ YaDHtRIbLAErYM piY 68 ??????? *:-D BB

I would say Peter ,that you would have no problems painting these, they are the same as the smaller size ones, but these were produced first and then down sized for 1/72 scale.
Quicker? Slower? Depends on the individual painting them.

I suffer from P T S S,my hands shake,and recently a lot.
So lots of stuff on hold at present, but one does what one can do,and when it can be done.

Image

So i concentrated upon getting lots undercoated. So 151 Zulus on this table and 52 on another table have been prepared for the actual painting to begin.
THE CALL TO ARMS ZULUS,are 50mm and ARMIES IN PLASTIC,are 54mm and a bit chunky!
Hands not to shaky now,so i`ll have a good stab at finishing a few.BB

Okay now you can dip them all in brown paint. When that is dry give them a black wash! And after that is don' you only have to paint the details! Simple isn't it? :-D

Just kidding Paul! ;-)
