It doesn't look bad but in my opinion they are a bit to large for this size. I did this once with a toothpick, cut of the point, dip in the paint then on a tissue, and then on the horse. Looked not so bad. ;-)

Everything except light dots looks really nice. They are too large and too regular.
Try this: Take an old brush, cut its hairs close to ferrule (metal parts). Dip brush in white paint and wipe it on soft clothes or tissue. You can then paint dots with brush with stabbing motion. That is what I do in 1/72 scale. It shouldn't be much different in this one.

At second attempt the result is great
Very neat painting
Maybe I will try something similar in 1/72 , using Kekso's method

Aaand a question: What color did you used on the officer' grey serge frock?
