Romans in Outer Space – The Saga Continues

Regular supply with garum, the highly sought-after condiment, is essential for the stability of the galactic Roman Empire.
Colonia Sarmizegetusa XIX, a lonely planet at the outer limes of the Roman territory, carries the largest known deposits of garum in the whole Empire.
But any contact with the space station there was lost several weeks ago.
Thus, the SPQR-1701 Tiberius and her crew are sent on a mission to explore what catastrophe has struck at Colonia Sarmizegetusa XIX.
When they finally enter The Hexagon, the central structure of the base, they have to face the deadliest enemy of their galactic empire ever.

Hello sberry,

the film turns out really nasty, frightening nice.
Heavily inspired by the fusion of Alien and Dune motives with a cest of fluo green spaghettis. Well, Alien prevails opticially.
Great scenery, really good choice of colours and inspired photography. I enjoy every part of it.
Bravo!

Very well achieved the atmosphere of suspense, mystery and danger, which become terror when the alien makes his appearance. :notworthy:

Great staging, sberry, congratulations.

Thank you, guys!

I wanted to show the very first moment of the confrontation: The Romans have just entered the Hexagon and those nasty critters are just emerging from their hideouts. For this effect, it would be nice when the scene is so dark that you can barely see the aliens. The problem is, you barely see anything on such dark pictures. So the light in these photos is a compromise between atmosphere and visibility.

The atmosphere of a dark and desolated space station I wanted to create is of course influenced by certain Sci-Fi movies, in particular the Alien series. I have just watched Prometheus on Netflix, and it was a mixed experience like the first time, when I saw it in the cinema: Ridley Scott is a real master at creating atmosphere and fantastic pictures. But the script of that movie – oh my. And the story of Covenant isn’t better either.

Talking about movies, the Hexagon movie is a major project that will keep me busy for several months. But at least I will be able to upload a new trailer tomorrow; this time a real one with music and all, not just a GIF pic!

I know from my own experience all the work involved in making a video, sberry. Some years ago I made an educational video during an ICT training course to use with my students and I remember it as a funny nightmare (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk1kE67xeFs&t=1465s).

So take it easy so it works out as best as possible. ;-)

For now we settle for the new trailer, which will undoubtedly be another masterpiece. We’re looking forward to your arrival tomorrow to attend your premiere. :yeah.

My best wishes.

Santi.

Dear Santi, I do not understand the Spanish but I really enjoyed this video! Anything related to biological evolution is interesting and fascinating in my eyes, it is another major field of my interests, besides Antiquity/Ancient Rome.
A “funny nightmare” describes the process of video editing pretty well, but I have managed to get the youtube trailer online!
