Someday I hope I can paint a pair of boots that well. But probably not.

Yeah boots, pack, pants, pouches, etc etc. It;s all done to the Nth degree. beautiful work and a fine tribute to an under-appreciated soldier. What year did they ditch the Prussian helmet?

Indeed! Remarkable realism in the fabric, steel, wood and especially the leather.

And the base, with the mud caked wire and the puddles, is awesome.

Great work. I would make him more dirty ( boots and pants)... but that's just me

Fantastic work as always but I personally feel that in the muddy conditions illustrated he would be considerably more filthy.

However, he certainly catches the moment of aggression so to speak.

Best wishes,

Chris

Thanks for your comments!
In early 1916 the pickelhaube was slowly replaced by the stahlhelm.
In 1918 the pickelhaube was abolished.

I like the work of setting and painting, just something to comment on and that is to adjust the shape and size of the eyes a little.
It is complicated but there is the difference from a normal work to a good one and you are a good painter, very good.
Santi.
