Swiss Guard cartoon figure

Posted by Santi Pérez on 08 Apr 2020, 13:37

Well, it has taken me much more time than I would have liked, but finally (helped by the forced confinement due to the Covid pandemia), I have finished this original and touristic representation of a Swiss Guard halberdier.

Now I can retake my 1/72 Swiss Guard and Cardinals diorama project, combining it with my telework from home. :sweatdrop:

First picture to remember the aspect of the original figure:

Second picture for scale purposes:

And the picture sequence to compare the figure before, in the middle and after:

I hope you like it and think that I have improved something the original figure (Wiking, I have maintained its smile, as you can see). ;-)

Thanks for watching.

Santi.

What a difference!

The original made me wonder why a tourist would want it but yours is wonderful.

And his smile is infectious, I saw this cheerful chap smiling out at me and within seconds I was grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

Wonderful painting ... hard to believe that it is color. :-D
It looks so realistic, you might think you used cloth for the uniform.

Yes indeed. Will there be a bobblehead version? I need one for my car.

Hello Santi,
Glad to see not only dirty war figures, but friendly, clean and colorful ones; Your technique is perfect. Your work these remember me the typical advertisemenst, of miracle products, with their body photos of “before” and “after”¡
You have to show it in the Vatican City, perhaps they would be interested in shelling this figures, really¡
Congratulations Santi,
Antonio,

These words, coming from a Golden Brush Winner, are a real proud for me.

Well, Graeme, I must confess that I recognized its potential in the tourist shop and this encouraged me to buy it. ;-)

Perhaps it's the result of the good matt varnish used, Egbert, hahaha.

Not a bad idea, Bessiere and Antonio. I don't think the Vatican would accept it, but I could propose to a Chinese company to make a bubbledhead version of the figure. :winky:

My two main secrets are a lot of pulse and a lot of patience, sberry.

You are right, MABO, I usually have a great inner peace...without the need of alcochol and other drugs (apart of scale figures, naturally).

Very best regards to you all, friends. It's always a pleasure to put any work in this forum for people like you. :yeah:

Thank you very much for your kind words, Peter. ;-)

On your first suggestion, I received the request from the Pope, but he forgot it when I told him that he would have to sell part of the Vatican Museums treasures to pay me.

My very best regards.
