Lucky Luke

Posted by Dad's Army on 03 Nov 2018, 15:38

A while ago I made a deal wth Paul (BB) cause I fel in love on these figures.
They looked like the Asterix range, but seems to be bigger.
But never the less, I wanted them and Paul got them for me!
(and a few weeks ago a facebookfriend got a whole bag for me in a second hand store for 0,50 euro)
Lucky Luke is about 5 cm high, this for your info about the scale.

Well I painted the first 2 figures: Lucky Luke and his loyal horse Jolly Jumper.

My biggest problem on painting these was the amount of layers paint.
Vallejo white isn't the best choice for this, but in the end I got all the white okay.

Hope you like it, and yes I know no high painting standards.
No wash, no wheatering or other techniques, but just the hard comic style.

This is fantastic Remco. I''m not sure would washes and highlights improve or ruin these figures. I like them just the way I remember them from comic books. They're exaclty like that.

Remco, Great post of Lucky Luke,
I have also added to this collection that i have.

I have noticed there are fake 3 D sets coming onto the market place pushing up the prices, but anyone who collects the Dargaud toy figures of 1968 will identify those easily. Like handling explosives one gets a feel for the real stuff, however I do like to voice a warning shots when I see them for sale.

I found this picture on Line at http://smallscaleworld.blogspot.com/
:sst: "and this link is active so if you wish to visit there just click on it", mentioned the helpful little Button who never talks in capitals. " What a nice little fellow he is."

It is an original Blister Pack above of the Lucky Luke Characters,
which are the DARGAUD Range of Bubble Gum and Ice Cream figures.
As a Gum Ball gift these were down sized to fit the Bubble Gum Machines.
A Penny a drop you got a chew and one small figure, but not available in the UK.
I have this entire small sized set also in my toy collection. :-D

Remco thanks for posting Lucky Luke and Jolly Jumper.

Very nice! I have some of them. Factory-painted though. Had Luke too, but he broke in the middle. But I still have his horse, all the Daltons and some more. All are pretty worn so maybe they need to be repainted some time in the far away future.

Thanks guys, and BB a very interesting post to see where these figures are from.
Never seen them here in the Netherlands as far as I can remember, like I wrote on my blog.
But a cool serie it is, and I am not sure to have them all painted before next FIGZ (Jan) cause I have to do a lot of Romain solders as well (still looking for them for painting more then Konrad hahaha)
Ohw and Wiking, I know who wins... faster then his shadow remember!
Funny you got the same figures already painted Gunnar, mine are all yellow...

If Lucky Luke broke in the middle, why not pin him and glue him back together using your advanced modeling techniques Gunnar?

Weeeell, it was a while ago. Mid-70s, actually. So to make it happen I have to buy a new one and break him in the middle and then fix him. Hmm, I think I can live without that figure.

Thanks, friends.

These figures bring me good memories of my childhood, when my brother and me got the complete collection, not only of Lucky Luke, but also of Asterix, Looney Tunes, Disney and others.

The figures came in a small paper bag with a bubble gum of the Dunkin brand. You had a figure and bubble gum for 1 peseta (around 0.5 Euro cents).

Great pictures, Dad's Army, Wiking and Susofrick. And very good information, Beano Boy. I add another website about promotional figures of all kinds, places and times (sorry, only in Spanish :( ): http://chicledunkin.blogspot.com/

Best regards. :-D

It seems all the bubble gum machines were in Spain.
A rather hot country that also required lots of ice-cream too.
So the real stash of bygone figures are there.
Thanks Santi,
i visited the Link you provided and my translator worked fine and dandy enough for a beano boy like me.
All very interesting figures so I will have to look into it. A quest only requires a little key board time after all. BB
