25mm Asterix and friends

Hello everybody.

While not my usual scale, I decided to finish this summer an old 25mm work begun several years ago. It includes three toy figures representing Asterix, Obelix and a Roman soldier.

I had the figures from a long time ago. I remember they came as a promotional gift in packages of melted cheese with breadsticks that my mother bought for my daughter. There was a wide collection of figures in various and shrill colours. They are obviously toy figures, not model soldiers, but I thought they could be good looking if painted.

These are the unpainted figures, roughly in 25mm scale. I put two pictures with different light intensity due to the crazy colours. Details really meet much better with the priming.





After the painting, varnishing and basing stages, these are the results.

I have liked Asterix adventures and characters from those distant times when I was a child. I've got the complete collection of comics both in Spanish and English from many years ago. By the way, the last ones helped me in improving my poor English.

I wonder how colourful and eyecatching can look these simple and cheap figures after the painting job. Really, a hard to imagine task when you look at them in their original crazy colours. Perhaps, in the far future I will encourage to paint more figures of the same collection.

If you are trying to decide whether to paint more of these figures, I am going to give my voice to the "yes, do it" side.

First we saw in shrill color the magic power of Asterix & Oberlix in comparison to a simple roman soldier.
Now we can see what happen if a brush touched the Magic Potion of color mixed by a Spaniard himself.

Thank you for your support, Bluefalchion, but my more inmediate projects belongs to my favourite scale, 1/72.

A very smart appreciation, Wiking, I hadn't realized the difference of green colour between Asterix and Obelix and the poor Roman legionary when I made and put the pictures, haha.

And thank you very much too for your comment about the magic powers of my brush. I have discovered in this forum that the Magic Potion you mention is the usual drink of many forumers. This humble Spaniard, Santius Brushius, will continue trying to do it the best he can.

Why did I mis this pist..
Suberb work, love the lines between te colors.
As you know these figures are mostly the only figures I paint,
so it's nice to see them in a "different" version (witch I like more)
I try to paint them "comic" stile, but these look much better.
Now I am busy getting more solders to make a army, so lots of double other figures from this range.
So if you're looking for another figure, just let me know, got them on stock!

I really apply my style of painting to all figures, whether they are historical, fantasy or comic-based. Paradoxically, two people from this forum have described my style as follows:

Peter: "A special way of painting figures. A bit cartoonish if I may say."

Mr. Andrea: "Santi's style reminds me of Tin-Tin comic."

You see, according to these opinions it seems that my style is more "comic" than yours.

Thank you also for your offer of more figures, but I have enough of them, taking into account that they do not fit into my most immediate projects. Maybe BB needs them to populate his fantastic Asterix village project.

Finally I feel happy for having gladdened your day, although you have found my post now, but remember that better late than never.

What wonderful Little characters these are when painted. Wonderful painting too, very neat, bright, colourful and cheerful.

Except for the face on the Roman legionary. He doesn't look cheerful. He looks like he knows what's coming.

If they were easily available here I think I would give them a try too. As it is I've only got an Egyptian dancer that I found in a sandpit when I was a kid.
