Ildfus Mahler's 28-32mm projects

Posted by ildfus mahler on 07 Jun 2017, 20:34

Hi there,

in this thread, I will be happy to show some of my finished non-20mm stuff. I will not post everything here (especially not all of my old stuff), which you can find at my workbench in the Bemalforum:
http://www.das-bemalforum.de/forumdisplay.php?285-Ildfus-Mahler.

Here is a list of what I posted here (in brackets the miniature brand and the finishing date):
  • Sukkubus (Freebooter's Fate, April 2017)
  • Moran, the Dwarven Massai (Hasslefree, March 2017)
  • Tamara Beardaughter (Darksword, February 2017)
  • The Feeder of Crows (Origen and others, March 2016)
  • Sirach Snowwalker, Half-elf Sorcerer (Nocturna, January 2016)

Ok. Here goes the first batch of pics. The images are of diverging size and quality, sorry about that. But I am hopeless with a camera...

Dear Ildfus,

My compliments to your extremely well painted work.

Judging the subjects of some of these masterworks, I am getting the impression there is a very dark fascination somewhere inside of you. Is that correct?

Wow. Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words. I feel really humbled...

As for my "dark side", I don't know. I guess you mainly talk about the guy with the birds. It is called "the feeder of crows" and is supposed to be an allegory on war. It shows the avatar of the god of war walking across a battlefield after a bloody and cruel battle - and all that is left of the people with their dreams and hopes and idea(l)s is food for crows and ravens.

I always try to tell a little story with my vignettes; and I felt pretty strong about that one.

Talk to you soon. Best,

D.

I think you fit very well with your shown 1/72 figure here.

Your 28-32 mm figure you write, As for my "dark side", reminds me to the "Cool mini or not" forum.
Painting is TOP !
:yeah:

Not a 28-32mm mini, but in order not to start another thread, I'll just post this here, anyway.

This is a StuG IIIb from Zvezda in 1/100 scale I painted for a friend. My goal was to create that wonderful little model in a muddy, dirty and grim environment typical for fall in Russia. Was my first tank model ever, I tried a lot of different things (color modulation, weathering with oils, etc.) and I really enjoyed it. Won't be my last!

Sorry about the strange lighting differences in the pictures. No idea why that happened.

Thanks for watching and best,

D.
