Marinier-Grenadier regiment van Westerloo 54 mm

Posted by paul haring on 11 Nov 2016, 14:53

Finished my mariners figure.
Grenadier regiment Westerloo 1782-1788.
Based on an article in Military Modelling september 1988 ( Never trow away old magazines ;-) )

As I always do I used Airfix Collectors series. This time parts of British Grenadier and French Old guard.
The rivet-counters amongst us will notice that the guy has no sword. Right it is. I couldn't find a way to fix it under the coat.
Painting is done in oils( face) Humbrol( coat) and Citadel acrylics.
For the whites I apply several layers of different shades of white. Pure white is only used for high-lights.
Also very useful: Devlan mud from Citadel colors. It's a brownish wash and once you covered the model with it , it will creep in all little folds creating depth. It also is a fantastic matting agent.

I agree concerning the magazines! Again a good conversion and for me something new to learn. I did not know much about these units.
