Braddock's defeat: My take (Oniria miniatures 28mm)

Posted by ONIRIA on 21 Feb 2016, 19:36

Hi all,
Finally managed to finish the vignette with the two Braddock sets we released.
I hope you like how it turned out.
I’ve added some extreme close up pictures for those of you interested in examining the painting style.
Thanks for watching.

Eyes at this scale are quite difficult to get right. This is how it's done. The passions of the event is mirrored in those sets of perfectly expressive eyes.

Hello.

Your painting of these figures in my opinion is a masterclass of artistry. I personally like to see 'dirty' soldiers as I feel that is more realistic but the way you have brought these guys to life is fantastic.

A real masterpiece to my opinion. I can not remember having ever seen such dramatic and realistic expressions of agony, fear and anger on the faces of figures in such small scale. This is 54mm quality in 28mm! But also the colors, the painting style and photography is unique: a strange combination of what looks like an old canvas painting, a woven tapestry and a diorama picture. Compliments for the proportions of these men: there are too many silly looking dwarf-like human figures in this scale (all scales!) and I am delighted to see the opposite here.

For all spectators: be aware of how much the dramatic background (very dark field with a central enlightened colored area, accomplished by using digital green screen technique) adds to this composition. Not only sculpting and painting but also photographing is absolutely professional.

Thanks Mr. Cryns. Our main goal when we created Oniria Minaitures, was to offer realistic and proportioned looking historical figures in 28mm. TBH I still don't know why in the XXI cent. this isn't done in all figures this size, regardless they are for gaming or for showcasing.
