Posted by gorgarrak on 12 Jul 2015, 11:09

As I've downsized my gaming miniatures to 6mm I've had to re paint my Russians for Battlegroup Kursk, here in no particular order is what I've got painted do far.

Sorry for the poor quality photos, I've only got a phone camera at the moment

Thanks for the kind comments everyone
I thought it'd be a good idea to stick some of my 6mm eastern front terrain up here too, with my massive scale switch I found most of my terrain redundant, in January I started working on updating everything, starting with 6mm WW2.

Firstly I needed roads, lots of roads. All based on 0.5mm plastic
Image

Secondly I'd need a helluva lot of trees and woods, I picked up some trees from a couple of Chinese eBay sellers, combined with pipe cleaner, bump chenille and home made trees from alder seeds
Image

Next was buildings, I picked up a bunch from Timecast and a few from Baccus too, I based them individually and in groups to represent cottages, villages or State Farms.
I built a load of linear features too, hedges, fences and tree lines trying to capture that Eastern Front aesthetic.
Image

Most hills could be made by putting objects under the MatOWar, but I decided to build a few smaller ones to represent large, regular shaped burial mounds and I've started working on fields go fill up dead space too
Image

The final piece I have finished is a dry river bed, useful for Russia in the summer.
Image

So that is 6ish months work, I've got a part finished wide river on the workbench and that'll be followed by a railway embankment and some large wheat fields.
That should keep me busy for a while.

As usual all comments and criticism is welcomed

Today's additions, since I have a river on my terrain workbench I thought I'd paint up a few bits for the Soviet Riverine Flotilla
A pair of Bronekater BK 1125 from Heroics and Ros

Image

These will be followed by a platoon of Black Sea Sailors made with modified H&R WW1 and WW2 Russian infantry

Today I've not got a lot done due to other responsibilities, but I did manage to get a couple more ships done that I'd started yesterday.
Firstly a couple of MTB, a G-5 & a D-3
Image

Next a BMO Guard Ship that needed a crew, the crew are Heroics and Ros Russian officers and artillery crew with paint conversions to Russian Sailors.

I've managed to get a bit more finished, well, almost finished, they still need decals.
Sorry for the fuzz photos, I will master macro setting soon
First up, a platoon of KV-1 plus 2 additional tanks
Image

A platoon of SU-76
Image

Another T-34 Company, I did debate sticking some tank riders on these, but the thought of transplanting them from the tiny H&R T-34s gave me nightmares. Maybe next Company will get riders, though these guys did get some turret hatches opened up
Image

A second forward HQ in T-34 for big, big games and a third for big, big, big games like the Prokhorovka Mega Game from the BGK book

As usual C and C welcome
