Airfix news 2026

Posted by Santi Pérez on 14 Jan 2026, 20:08

The Airfix website presents its new products for this year. There are quite a few reissues in the 1/76 scale figures section: Romans, Ancient Britons, Robin Hood and Sheriff of Nottingham, as well as the Roman fort and Sherwood Castle. :-D

It is interesting to note the illustrations on the boxes. While the Romans and Britons retain the original illustrations (very well digitally retouched), the other two are more creative and innovative (including possible portraits of Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland and Basil Ratbone). ;-)

Here is the link so you can take a look:

I'm definitely going to order all four individual sets. I fondly remember the battles my brother and I used to stage with these figures in our bedroom when we were little (we also made the men of Nottingham and Robin Hood become Romans and Barbarians).

Thank for posting here, Santi. You have been faster than me. Since there are some old historic figures coming back in the range after years - or decades - I am happy. I will buy them as well. The sets with the castle and the fort I have as a treasure in my collection, but new releases I can build and not just keep in the box in mind condition.

I am looking forward, what might come from Airfix in the future. There are some more possible re-releases, I am hoping to get my hands on.

Just the same for me, Jan.

As you may have seen, they have a lot of reissues planned for 2026, apart from the figures, I don't know if those are the ones you're most interested in. :winky:

I've emailed to Airfix requesting some information about the four 1/76 scale figure sets they're reissuing this year. So far, they've replied that their customer service team is overwhelmed and that it usually takes them more than a week to respond. When I hear back, I'll post the news here. ;-)

I'm curious as to why the Mile fort is available on its own but the castle isn't. Many, many, many years ago British wargamer Terry Wise (I think) published a series in Airfix magazine about how to butcher a few castles together to make a bigger more 'realistic' structure. The walls were doubled up to give them realistic thickness, and there was a barbican and so on. It is the sort of project that could do with a re-visit.
Aside from that I welcome the re-release of the Vickers Light tank which is a lovely little model of a great little tank.

Steve, Airfix anticipates that the castle will also be available sometime in 2026:

Digging through the forum's historical archives, I discovered that in 2011 a member posted his own upgrade of the Airfix castle by combining two of them. And another forumer posted the pages from the March 1972 Airfix magazine with the Terence Wise article you mentioned:

I hope you enjoy. ;-)

That is actually a castle AND figures, the mile fort is released on its own without any figures, for about half of the price, it's just a shame that the castle will not be released without figures as well.

The figures are interesting for me most of all. So Robin and the Sheriff are very welcome. But the Foreign Legion and the Arabs would be great as well. Just to give you an example. This might be according to their plans, because it was the third set with a fort as well. Let's wait and see...

Sorry, Steve, I didn't quite understand you. :(

In any case, in Airfix's new releases for 2026 I can't find the Roman fort for sale on its own. Both it and Sherwood Castle appear, but both are accompanied by their corresponding figures:

I understand you, Jan. Although the Romans and Britons are among my priorities, they are not the only ones. I hope that one of these years Airfix will also reissue Washington's army and British Grenadiers from the A.W.I.

I would definitely love to see some real novelties, Airfix style. But it is also nice to know that at least they re-release their iconic vintage sets. Even the Guards Band will be available, just in case a gifted figure converter would need them urgently…

I apologise, when I first looked at the catalogue I thought I saw the following.
*Ancient Brits
*Romans
*Fort
*Fort set with Brits and Romans
*Robin Hood Set
*The Sheriff's men set
*Sherwood Castle set with Outlaws and Sheriff's men.
I was wrong, obviously because now I can't find the Fort on it's own.

My main reason for getting upset about it was, that I was quite interested in butchering a few castles to make something as scenery for Dragon Rampant - if they'd been on their own I might have considered it but at £25 a pop I'm not sure I can consider it.

Perhaps we know someone in that situation, Stephan?

I certainly don't consider myself included, because I made sure to get three copies of the set as soon as it came out so I wouldn't run out of the necessary figures... and then some. :winky:
