Garbuz Models, new 1/72 manufacturer

Posted by Erich von Manstein on 27 Oct 2020, 11:06

The newly establisheded ukrainian 1/72 manufacturer Garbuz Models has released 2 interisting kits so far.
They seem to work in cooperation with MikroMir and the kits are in plastic.
Probably manufactured with "short run" production technology?

72-001 - MAZ-200 Soviet Cargo Truck post WWII, Cold War

72-002 - "Seagull" Ukrainian Cossack warship should be usable for several centuries, presumably without figures

Such moulds are made of softer, non-durable materials and therefore wear out relatively quickly after a certain number of injection processes.
This means that only a limited number of kits can be produced before the mould is irretrievably lost.
In addition, short-run kits are often less "clean" than those made with steel moulds and therefore more challenging for the modeller.

It is very likely that almost every modelling enthusiast has already held short-run kits in his hands.
ACE, Armory, Attack, Linear-A, Military Wheels, Orion or Strelets, just to name a few plastic manufacturers.
