With the Witches and the Wizards sets in my hand (but too much going on around the house to sit down and take pictures of them) I had a really good look at them yesterday.
Overall impressions are really good. The Witches, in my opinion are the better of the two sets. Despite the glossy blue plastic, the figures have a lot of character, and there is plenty of nice detail.
E is obviously Maleficent.
"Why d'you say that, Steve?"
Ooh, I don't know it might be the two characteristic horns, and the slimness of the figure compared to the other witches.
D is the same witch in disguise with apple and basket.
J is very reminiscent of Nanny Ogg from Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. She is plump and cheerful looking (the sculpt is that good), and a witch!
The rest are all very nice,
F is holding something that I have interpreted as a familiar but it's not very clear.
The Wizards are nice too, but they 'pop' a bit less that their female counterparts. There are a couple of Gandalf types
A and
I, a Radagast
K, and quite a nice Saruman
E, I am fairly convinced that the second
J which should have been an L, is Tom Bombadil.
Also
H definitely has a Dumbledore vibe about him, I was surprised that they didn't include a 'Tim the Enchanter' from
Monty Python and The Holy Grail .
But they are all useable figures and I think the purchase was worth, especially if, like me, you split the sprues with a mate.
