Linear-A news & releases 2020 - 2025

Given the current global financial turmoil that will probably worsen, I guess all figures will go up in price.

I do love getting a little package of figures in the post but if this happens less frequently (or, shudder, not at all) I can always take out a painted army & admire it. And, TBH, some of my older figures could be stripped & re-painted.

By nature, I tend to look on the bright side of things which may be foolish but I think the optimum approach.

I personally appreciate just having more options, at least we can decide to buy them if we want or not. I mostly buy 3D prints nowadays, which means designs are scale agnostic because files can be resized, so I have a lot to choose from and I already have a giant backlog anyway. Even if people don't get the new Linear-A sets, at least we can get them, it's better that they exist, is my point. I've noticed that some of their new main box sets have reduced the figure count from the 30s to 20, which isn't hugely problematic to me because I used to just give away or sell the duplicates, but I guess they're going to keep the same price while reducing the content, true shrinkflation. I don't like it, but it is what it is. I'll just limit what I buy. No flaming pigs but I do want the elephants and maybe the Roman legionaries. I buy so little sets anyway, it's a very occasional purchase

I sometimes regret being "a little discriminating" in the past & *not* buying some great sets that covered periods I wasn't (then!) interested in. I caught the end of the Atlantic sets & should have bought a lot. There were Zvesda sets sitting on the shelves of my LHS I left sitting. EG I now want to add scythed chariots to my Galatian army & the Zvesda Persian chariot sets would be ideal if I had of bought them.

Yes, I sometimes regret not buying miniature figures & wasting my money on luxuries like food & paying the mortgage.....

Linear-A has announced that they will be selling the following sets from the 19th of May.

BIG SETS;

#029 Roman Anti-Elephant Wagon Pyrrhic War 280-275 BC "Battle of Asculum 279 BC"
#121 Jason and the Argonauts with Talos, crew of the Argo, from the movie 1963 Set 1
#136 Jason and the Argonauts with Hydra, golden Fleece, Skeleton Army, from the movie 1963 Set 2

REGULAR SETS;

#044 MARGIANA 2000 BC - 1700 BC "Oxus civilization" "with lapis lazuli mine"
#063 The Battle of Pharsalos "First Triumvirate" THE LEGIONS OF GAIUS JULIUS CAESAR Set 1
#064 The Battle of Pharsalos "First Triumvirate" THE LEGIONS OF GAIUS JULIUS CAESAR Set 2
#065 The Battle of Pharsalos "First Triumvirate" THE LEGIONS OF GNAEUS POMPEIUS MAGNUS Set 1
#067 The Battle of Carrhae "First Triumvirate" THE LEGIONS OF MARCUS LICINIUS CRASSUS Set 1
#094 The Battle of Carrhae "First Triumvirate" THE LEGIONS OF MARCUS LICINIUS CRASSUS Set 2
#128 Jehoschua / Jeschua / Jesus, the true story
#141 Republican Roman Incendiary

Just like everyone else, it seems, I am just going to buy what I think I need, and then, not much more. The prices (though unannounced by Linear-A) are getting up there... and the number of figures in each box lower. :/

It seems Linear-A are producing sets with different methods, you've got the new 3D printed sets but they also have the older mould style sets. You can see the difference, you get 20 3D printed figures or 48 traditional figures for the new sets:

I notice the visual design of the plastic moulded miniatures really do seem to harken back to the minis I'm used to from Strelets and the older Linear-A models.

The 3D printed figures are nice, but I really like the human touch.

I am excited about the quality of the 3D printed figures from Linear-a and as a collector I try to catch up with the production. But I am asking myself, if the company will sell enough of the exotic boxes like Dschiroft Culture for example.

But I wish them luck and success, because they are one of the big players in the world of 1/72 actually. And thier Roman officers for example are mind-blowing.

I agree Mabo, Linear-A new 3D products are really game-changers, I have the Assirians and they leave me breathless, details and poses are marvellous !
Only part where classic mould remain superior are arrows and bow chords, in 3D they are too thick !

Hope the company will have all the success they deserve with both types (classic and 3D) even with the more misterious civilizations (never heard of them before !)

I had heard of Dilmun, through the Arabian Nights - I think - but it was also supposed to be the site of the Garden of Eden.
However it's probably not going to be on my list of 'wants'.
I've just seen the Carrhae sets listed at £28 (£27.99p), coincidentally I have been digging through my old Warhammer Ancient Battles armies, at nearly thirty quid a set the idea of buying even just eight sets to make up an army is going to be as mythical as Eden.

Wow these are some really incredible releases and I just saw the two Jason and the Argo naught sets that are sure to get.

Does anyone have some pictures of the Talos yet? Its one I really want, but I do think there are some missed opportunities. For a second model, the one of him kneeling on his stand would have been preferable than 2 standing models.... or some smaller models of the other bronze statues found in the scene....

Talos!

I could not pass this one up despite the high price after all the Tariffs and shipping etc... About 80$ shipped to my door... not exactly something I should have done but I think its also a centerpiece for some minis in display cabinets... It will be fun to paint too... Its been a while. I hope all are doing well.

The size is good with it, the movie was said to be 240' ft tall which in mini scale would have been over 3' tall. This one stands at 8.5 inches with base. Its imposing but can fit in the world.

I also got the Jason and Argonaughts one, the Hydra is truely terrifying... The skeletons must be the finest detailed ones in 1/72 possible with tail bones and hollows in the hips. But I think I got it for the golden fleece.

I do hope they make another accessory kit for this theme and other Greek myths.

Very impressive Howlin,
very intriguing subject from Linear A. On most other items they are focussed on historical subjects. Well, I still prefer the injected moulded old ones - more toyish probably. Just seen on the Temu adverts which pop up every time I enter Benno's site figurines in 1/72 of paled bodies. Very realistic and gruesome. Not quite my cup of tea, but then I bought the Dark Dream Zombies (old fashioned injection figures). You can actually transform them into many fun-stuff subjects. Oh heaven, where do I take my time from to realize just 10% of ideas.
It's so good to see all your contributions

Yeah, its quite a machine they dreamed up, but the movie was 240' tall, which to be movie scale would be like a small child! I like this scale better.

I totally understand that some of the new Linear A really breaks from the style it came from which was the miniature toy world into very specific scene enactments and scattered variety of themes. Though what they were able to do with the Roman commanders set was astounding. Since I have so many model ships I could not pass up the Talos... and the fleece. Though the price was way higher than I think it should have been after all the fees so the sets have to be extra special.

As for the time... yes, I have not made much progress is the past couple of years but actually now have turned a closet into a "dream" studio to facilitate crafts. Its been long time of remodeling after some flooding which has taken up most of my time.

Thinking of something to do in retirement is basically what got me started collecting.
