AAAAAAH, They're doing it again, they're making ancients minis. *points* They've virtually got an ancients monopoly at this point, someone give them some competition or they'll become like Gamesworkshop!

Well, I didn't need more Persian minis, but I like the sculpts. I've been down this road before. Here we go again...

Still waiting for the Celts set release so I can finally finish my army.

Meh! Too modern for me. I want REALLY ancient. ;-) I want to see what the rest of the Prehistoric Humans/Denisovans/Neanderthals will look like. Hopefully some females and action poses.

A family re-union, then? Always good to catch up with the ancestors.

Another cousin has just been found in China. He's been named Homo longi (Dragon Man) but may actually be a Denisovan rather than a completely new genus of Homo.

It would be churlish to have hoped for our distant cousins, Homo Erectus, who all of the above mentioned would have met. Peacefully or not......some of our family reunions don't always end harmoniously. :-D

Are there Homo Erectus genes in the human genome? That might be one clue as to how the interactions turned out.

As probable ancestors, we share many of their genes but the sort of contact you're suggesting....maybe.

Here's one idea:
https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020/02 ... -ancestors

As Neanderthals get "promoted" to more or less full humanity-status, poor H. Erectus seems to be pushed back to semi-ape.

They were the first hominid to leave Africa & were successful for 2 million years.
They had complex social structures, practised art, introduced the well-made hand-axe, cared for the old & disabled.

Speech? Probably pretty basic. Clothing? Possibly. So a bit primitive but definitely no more primitive than my Uncle Hamish (he's from Glasgow).

Yep, now I'm just waiting for it to be listed in store fronts.

It does seem like a slow past month for 1/72 to me, lot of just waiting for things to get released.

I'm starting to feel spoiled for Hoplites. There's already the fantastic Zvezda sets, the Caesar set, the HaT Theban army. Germania Figuren have a resin King Leonidas in the works. Hoplites, hoplites everywhere!

I am so disappointed ... I just saw on their site that the sets from the Justinian era, planned since last September in 2021 will not be available before (at best?) 2022 ... I placed so much hope in them to bridge this gap!

Hey, at least they're making them, it could be worse. Imagine trying to play something like Medieval Indians, there's literally no 1/72 miniatures out there lol.

Plus, you know when they make the mould, the miniatures will most likely be excellent if Linear-A keep going on this trend. I've always liked your Roman project log, hope to see progress on it when they release more minis.

Owen, you are totally right ! but I had so much hope to see these novelties this year that I launched my new Belisarius project on this expectation!
moreover, once my vacation is over, I will share my first creations ...:)

First figure, third row has really caught my eye.

They all look pretty great, though.
