Figure at the left with bandage on the eye seems to be Kutuzow. Plus a Russian general.
Guessing for which set? Russian infantry standing shoulder arms, standing shoulder arms in greatcoats or marching in greatcoats?

Those 18th-century English and French figures tempt me to get into GNW again! And the bonus figures makes me want to get back to Nappies again!

That’s nice, but disappointing. We need mounted Russian generals, not more on foot. So lovely figures, but limited use again. Such a shame

The pose is perfect to me. In a diorama those characters just add a bit of fun. Gives me something to talk about when I show my dio’s to other people. But most of the time they were never in the heat of the fight.
So just a bit of a showcase.

A controversial set, to say the least. But beautiful masters again.

Controversial because pike were outdated at this time, or what is the reason? I am not an expert in this period?

@Mabo: if you want you can read the discussions on the strelets forum.
Sorry for this simple and easy answer. Truth is: I’m also not an expert in this.

I know nothing about this period but I've been following the debate on the Strelets forum.

It seems the main issue is that Strelets has identified these as War of Spanish Succession figures but some of the guys on the forum have stated, quite stridently, that pikemen in cuirasses are not appropriate for the WoSS.

On the other hand, some of the other guys have said they really want the figures and can find use for them; either for the early part of the WoSS, or for the League of Augsburg, or for conversion to other conflicts. And I think the guys who do imaginations are just rubbing their hands in glee and shouting OOH LOVELY!

Some of the negative comments have been quite heated, I feel that one or two folks have adopted the attitude "I don't want these figures so Strelets shouldn't make them" and they seem to have missed the point that some of the other guys actually want the figs.

Personally I don't want any WoSS figures (unless I can shoehorn some of them into the Jacobite Rebellion) but I realise that some of You do want them and nobody ever forced me to buy a set I didn't want so, no problem! If You want them and Strelets want to make them I'm happy for both of You.

Actually I've been looking at all of the pictures of these sets and I have to say that the figures are so nice I kind of wish I did want them.

Hello,

the discussion on the "usefulness" of these little men on Streletz forum is justified in that sense that pikemen in the French army were really out of service at the time of WSS. Mainly, they saw their service end by around 1690. At that time the tricorn was not yet worn by the French, but a round brimmed hat. Some also wore helmets.
But as Graeme points out, the figures are nice enough and it remains easy to assort the hat or make head swops and you obtain useful pikemen for the many earlier wars of the great Sunking - period from 1660 to 1690. Here, the bad point is that there are few musketeers, mostly by Mars and these figures are rather stocky.

2 pictures to illustrate the appearance of French pikeneers for 1660 to 1690 period.

That seems to me to be a sentiment well within a stone's throw of actually wanting some of these WoSS sets!

This set has definitely taken some criticism on the Strelets forum. Nobody seems to be able to say what period this set 100% works for due to combination of pike, tricorne and breastplate. It would be nice if Strelets offered an explanation for the period they envisaged it being used for. Considering Strelets have said, when asked if they'd consider starting SYW range, they wouldn't start any new periods before they've completed their current projects it seems an odd choice of a set.

Figures look really nice though, especially the ensign and drummer. But I won't be purchasing!

It looks like a Finnish AT rifle. I'm not an expert though.

Looks like a nice set. Is the one firing a light machine gun with top magazine carrying a Madsen? Were used by the finnish army but don't know how many were in service by 1939. Still, nice to see it represented in the hobby. Perhaps even be used as a Norwegian??? (I dont know Norwegian uniforms).
