Zvezda 2020 - 2023

Posted by Bessiere on 09 Sep 2020, 05:51

The gorgeous Napoleonic sets are expensive to set up for production as well as to create. 2015 being the 200th anniversary was the peak sales time for such sets and having worked in a business making military commemorative guns we did the same with 50th anniversary of the end of WW2 back in 1995. The small sets are easy and cheap to bring to market allowing a consistent flow of new products. WW 2 is better selling than other eras. Seeing how the big old sets have become collectors items it's probably a good idea to let the price go as high as possible then making a limited run of the big sets again with a much higher price. I would happily pay 2x retail price for Imperial guard, French artillery or Russian hussars.

‘Happily pay 2x retail price’?
Hèhè, do what you want and have a nice hunt. And if it’s good for the business I applaud that of course.

Meanwhile I’m on my own hunt: still buying Zvezda Ww2 canons, the mini sets, for €3,95. E.g: last months I bought me 8 German pak 40’s for just in case. I’m actually making a real catch up with Zvezda 1/72 snap kit tanks too. They are still around €10,- at one dealer of mine and they are about the best tanks in 1/72 scale.
And i’m glad I bought 14 French guard grenadier sets back then for the normal price (about €7,-).
In this hobby I still got the motto: if you think you’re perhaps gonna need them one day buy them as soon as possible.
Only Airfix stays forever.

I feel like if I went by your motto Marc I'd have to sleep on a pile of unpainted plastic figures! :xd:

I only got in to this a year ago. Even then i could tell that some sets were disappearing fast so I grabbed up several of those I named above. Now my sole regret is not getting more when I could but who knows when I might get around to actually painting them? I have to admit I would feel very bad if someone wanted those sets and couldn't get them because of my greed. It could have been one of my fellow Benno's members! :(

Dear Bessiere: that shows above all that you got a good character. :-D

(just don’t say or mention it here; we call collecting soldiers a happy hunt for a reason :sst: )

Always remember for most the mould still exists , particularly so when it`s a metal mould .so while some sets are rare now they are only a re run away from flooding the market once again.

Soviet assault troops.
Nice!
But different from the catalogue art work. So no sg 43 goryunov and less figures than I hoped.
But you get quite a big wall! https://vk.com/wall-7879149_26797?browse_images=1

Is there some profound meaning in this? Or it is just plain provocation of moderators?

Well now I want to say something. Anyone who knows me in person via Facebook or even better in person by the Figz meetings knows I’m a rather quite person and seldom raise my voice. Because I like nuance, humour and discussions in a good atmosphere. And I got everything but a short fuse.
This to make clear I’m actually quite serious right now.
What I want to say is this:
As long as certain moderators don’t stop their rather childish and obstinate reactions when just very mild remarks or perhaps jokes are made (if meant as a joke), so making a big deal out of nothing: then I’m off for a while.
For I don’t like this atmosphere created by them for one bit.

This is just a pretty hobby I got and which I like dearly. And I just like to share news and ideas on this forum. Some moderators are not contributing to this good atmosphere so for the moment(!) I say: adieu and see you.

Oh, I'm really looking forward to that Sherman, especially if it's not a snapfit kit.

Good news, Zvezda is going to continue their 1/72 AoT range at least.
The following expansions are planned for 2021.

6174 - British Headquarters BEF 1940
6272 - German Volkssturm 1945
6277 - M-72 soviet WWII motorbike with sidecar & riders
6278 - US Marines
6279 - US Marines Combat Engineers
Please excuse if the naming is maybe not perfectly correct, I simply had to guess some of them. ;-)
Another good news, Zvezda will add WWII US troops to their AoT range.

Happy now?

Perhaps we should label humorous contributions more clearly in the future, maybe with the help of different coloured writing?

Sooo true.
Any figure maker who made one side without opponents make sense. I can sing a song about that of USEFUL Argentine soldier for the Falkland conflict (1982).

But for Zvezda I think it is just a time gap till we get Japanese sword swinging and bayonet attacking Samurai soldier of the JIA.

Meanwhile we get JIA soldier from Esci, Matchbox, Zvezda, Waterloo.

Do not forget those Strelets sets for Japanese Military. I love their heavy weapons set plus their marvellous cannons. Their Banzai Charge set is almost perfect.
