I'm sorry, last I want is to look pedantic, but the guy on your picture wears pistol holster on their left hip and cleaning/repearing tools poach on their right one...

That's why I wrote exceptions, in 99,9% the machine gunner would have had no rifle ammo pouches, pistol holster, repairing tools etc but this particular individual in the photo, unless he is just posing belongs to that small minority who did. The model is easily fixed and it will be done.

This picture is of the standard German infantryman’s webbing when armed with a Mauser rifle.

I hope that it helps.

Best wishes,

Whoops, just for clarification I did not crop the picture.

The reference at the top was the initial search request!

Thank you for this Chris. Seems it's a little more work for the machine gunner than expected, slightly different webbing from standard infantry.

So here's the correct version without the pouches at least.

For those of you who want WW2, do you prefer early mid or late war Germans? Any special unit?

I prefer to have late war, Traveller. No special units, but hand to hand combattants and for the inside of buildings/bunkers would be very usefull for me, and perhaps others too?

Yes I think this is best, and good suggestion about hand to hand fighting men.

Any dissenting opinions?

Contrary to the incorrect but prevalent belief that WWII axis figures are exorbitantly dominating the 1/72 market, there is actually a healthy demand for many yet overlooked or inadequatly handled subjects.

At the moment, my personal preference is on early war units again.

- Polish Infantry with support weapons, mounted & dismounted Cavalry and Podhale Rifles.
- Fallschirmjäger especially suitable for Fall Gelb, Unternehmen Weserübung and Unternehmen Merkur.
- Gebirgsjäger especially suitable for Unternehmen Weserübung and Unternehmen Merkur.
- Wehrmacht Infantry squads especially suitable for 1939-40. Mostly armed with rifles, few smgs. Advancing under combat conditions or marching columns in loose formation & distinctive campaign look.
- Dutch Infantry with support weapons.
- Norwegian Infantry with support weapons.
- French crews for light artillery and AT guns.
- French mounted & dismounted Cavalry and motorised Dragoons.
- French Chasseurs Alpins and Belgian Chasseurs Ardennais.
...
;-) :-D

I think Erich has a point.
Nonetheless: my projects/dioramas are all for the later part of the war.

I really can use some more German troops that I can place in bunkers. This mg man is a good pose. Running under cover pose is also welcome.
(and casualties/dead/wounded)
Also soviet winter troops/Siberian riflemen tankriders. Sitting on it or jumping from it.
But for this kind of set I hope a plastic company will make it some day.
