Crynsminiaturen presents its Kyrenia Ship in scale 1:72



Ancient Greek merchant transport ship from the Hellenistic period, 4th - 3th century BC, also known as Kerineya or Keryneia Ship, πλοίο Κερύνειας, build around 320 BC, it sunk with its Rhodean load of 380 wine amphorae off the northern Cypriote coast around 290 BC.

















Its scale 1:72 master model was designed in wood and textile
copies: resin casted, metal wire enforced, 70 pieces
hull length 18,5 cm
year of production: 2019

Yes those ancients had a bubble wrap sea too, to set sail cloth upon.
I believe if it works then clear foggy through use it.

BB I hope you are doing fine and your health is still improving. I can see you have been very productive the last year. And yes the bubble wrap sea was an experiment. The big waves should in fact have been foreground, the small waves background instead, all for the perspective effects... but in the foreground the bubble plastic was so not-convincing that I turned it around. A good epoxy sea should have been much better. But I liked the spectacular light effects, bot reflexing flairs as translucent light fall, too much to do the photographing all over again.

Well thats not up to me to decide and compared to countless plastic model kits my resin cast work is pretty rough... though lively . But when it comes to stuffing an ancient ship model with amphora cargo, I think you could be right.

I wonder how you feel being a businessman now, instead of an artist?

Well, to be honest huib, it is great to find out who my customers are, who is interested in Ancient ships and crew in this scale and it is nice and educational for me to have personal contact with these people.
Less fortunate is (of course) that the time spent by advertising, selling, casting, packing and posting can not be used for designing and sculpting. So my productivity on new models and figurines slowed down considerably.
