Italeri reissues

Posted by Traveller1865 on 11 Jul 2018, 17:53

Maybe this is old news but Italeri has announced that some old Esci sets will see the light of day again, namely:

6054 — French Foreign Legion
6055 — Arab Warriors

But perhaps most noteworthy is the upcoming release of the dioramic fort "Beau Geste".

6183 — Beau Geste: Algerian Tuareg Revolt 1877/1912

I suspect the fort, like Rorke's drift buildins is produced in mdf, but it does look like the old Airfix set so perhaps more likely another re-issue, and contains some tent structures, a well and stonewalls in addition to the above mentioned sets. So no new figures but it's great to see these out of print figures from a classic 1/72 scale miniature producer once more.

It's good that they're still releasing reissues, and especially trying to make the sets more appealing to new collectors by doing them as battle sets. But would be nice for Italeri to release some more of their own stuff. When did they last produce a new set?

I was hoping for the Esci Warzaw troops to be re-issued but if I recall correctly they will be soon.

I contacted Italeri a couple of months ago and both the NATO and Warsaw Pact should released around September.

It's a great set, a few weeks ago I was searching on ebay for these, and now they're coming back, just hope they're coming soon.

There's actually a book about Esci that came out a few years ago, however it was very short and language difficult, some captions were in French.

A little while ago, Id have loved that fort too.
But Jacques has spoiled it for me. How can I be satisfied with that after seeing this:

Jacques fort is priceless. So this is an alternative, if you are unable to build such a fort yourself :-D
