Mars is a brand known for me to simply copy Matchbox figures in several variations.

But this look totally new in design. And that is very, very good. :yeah:
Hopefully the quality increase too.

They don´t look too bad considering what Mars has produced in the past...and I can at least 6, maybe 8 possible conversions with the German bods and 3-4 with the japanese

They are looking indeed much better than the ordinary Mars figures, but some of the germans have still strange poses which are looking that they have s**t in their trousers - sorry!

I did not laugh out loud at this comment, but I did snicker quietly. I think your critique is well taken. Perhaps some lower-body swaps will be useful.

Bluefalchion, many thanks for your response. An alternative: With the second view the Panzergrenadiers are looking also like members of Monty Pythons ministery of silly steps. Sorry, I have drunken already two glases of wine... ;)) I am not anymore serious...

Have to agree that, although I have a liking for the smaller manufacturers, these don‘t look too promising unfortunately. :eh:

Few and gawky poses, faint details and those shat pants... .
Will also wait for unpainted review pictures at PSR before a conclusive evaluation is justified, but my first impression is rather negative.

Remarkable how much higher our expectations & standards are nowadays compared to -let’s say- 10 or 15 years ago.
Not that long ago, I would‘ve surely jubilated about the announcement of 3 new WWII sets. But since the so called “Golden Age“ has provided us with ever more figures & kits, I buy way more deliberately.

Well, that‘s what I tell my wife at least... .

We are truly spoilt. :xd:

Truly, the best condition for an extensive and rampantly cheerful chat at our favourite forum?! :xd: ;-)

Have fun! :occasion:

Your glasses of wine have done little to dull your shrewd intellect, sansovino. And, as dyssentary was rampant on the Eastern Front as the situation worsened and supply became spotty, perhaps these Mars figures are more accurate than they appear at first blush.

PSR provides the relevant pictures of the 3 new sets at their "awaiting review" section for quite some time already.
http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/AwaitingReview.aspx

As previously expected, the figures are not very attractive (to put it mildly).
Few & partially awkward poses, soft detail & quite some flash are enough reasons for me to skip these sets. :(

Although I basically have a soft spot for the smaller & inventive manufacturers, I cannot ignore to which unexpected high standards Pegasus, Dragon, Caesar, Zvezda & others have catapulted the 1/72 WWII market over the last 15 years.

:yeah:
Today I see it announced in a Model shop too. The box top was the only picture.
I looked carefully to it. Finally get the same opinion as you.
And stay away for an order.
Now your link to PSR support my decision once more.
All new figure sets look in mold technology similar to the very cheap Asian copy of Airfix figures.

And have to add.
The market in 1/72 is flooded with high quality GERMAN troops. In several combat variants. And timeline.
For me there is no pose in non of the new sets that I own already in a much better quality.

I can`t follow the strategy of Mars.
If I can`t compete with the quality, sales distributors net of Revell, Dragon, Pegasus, Zvezda Preiser etc...
Use the niche market.

I can follow the strategy of ACE as an example for vehicles.
I can follow the strategy of several small figure maker who offer her products in these forum.

Mmh... the handgrenade poses are all (except the guy in winter dress) looking somewhat odd. And that Luftwaffe guy with Panzerfaust is about to kill himself with his very own weapon... tss tss tss

All MARS figures are really bad up til now. Also the last two sets of WWII. So it is hard to believe that these will be better when you can have a close look.

The previous two German sets are not too good (although I'll try to convert them into acceptable figures), but the winter kit looks pretty nice.
