Can only agree, the musketeers (even though they are more than three) and guards look very good!

Really nice figures. Not my period but I wouldn't mind to have them in my collection.

Those GerMan figures look good!
Indeed they were a beautiful set, sad that the swords broke so easily

The ladies and even the King can be used generically, but what is one supposed to do with all the surplus but unmistakeable Richelieus (Richelieux??).
New sequel - "Attack of the Cardinal Clones"?

For me any extra repeated figure is always a gift.. it makes new conversion options while keeping at least one original safe!
The cardenal clones can be converted int different officer figures just by an easy headswop.. And a changed cardinal head can be placed on a monk or priest body (poenty of them from other sets) or even on another mounted xvii c officer...

My Musketeers set arrived yesterday, and a lovely set it is, too. My set was made in the brick red colour that Richelieu's Guards are shown as, above. The mould appears to be improved on prior Ultima Ratio sets - there was zero flash, which is a real bonus. My only comment is the number of poses. What we get is very good - sculpting and scale are perfect so no complaints there - but the set feels more like a 'command sprue' repeated four times rather than a core troops set. The sculpts capture the essence of the main characters from the 1970s films perfectly - but do I really need 4 D'Artagnans, 4 Athos', 4 Aramis', 4 Porthos', 4 Dukes of Buckingham, 4 Queens of France and 4 Constances?

I suspect the same will apply to the Richelieu set - but at least multiple generic guards will be useful. One suspects multiple customisations are in the offing.

Overall - what we get is superb quality - just wish we had more variation in the set, which would have made it amazing.

Minor conversions eg head changes & some arm changes, are possible but the darned cloak makes major mods rather difficult.

Second set (Guards of Cardinal Richelieu) has landed. Same brick-red plastic as the musketeers. Same great standard of sculpting and a perfect match for the Musketeers set. Slightly more useful generic 'guards' duplicates - but still surplus duplicates of Richelieu & Milady. Still - I'm not complaining - these are fabulous figures. Not quite as 100% flash-free as the Musketeers - but very little cleaning up to do. Recommended.
