They are beautifull... but why they put all the figures x3.
When we buy one boxe, we need more fighters than flag man officer.

I believe it is a genuine representation of an actual standard bearer from that period. I seem to remember that the Funckens did an illustration of one in the 70's, and they took it from a contemporary illustration. I may have mis-recalled this but I am pretty sure the figure is kosher.

Well that's kind of emphatic. Many thanks Paul.

Exactly as Gush and the Funckens illustrated him.

I think the point of the outfit is visibility. He seems to be part of the command structure so the outfit is to make sure he can be seen by the soldiers when reforming the troops.

I think the problem is not the horns, but the fact that the standard bearer in the sets is at the same time the horn blower. This is not correct. The standard bearers were always (at least lightly) armoured. The horn blower was normally not.

I have posted on Strelets. I find it strange that nobody mentions the huge 1893 panorama of the Battle of Murten (Schlacht bei Murten ) by Louis Braun. I give the link below but finding the horned figure takes a while but he is on the lower edge. The horn/trumpet is far bigger than the one in the UR set as they used Aurochs horns which is about the size of the one in Braun's panorama. The emblem on the flag is probably an Aurochs head rather than a bull but I have not seen that mentioned. At that time the Aurochs was the largest indigenous European land mammal (herbivore) becoming extinct in the 17th c. You can see Schilling in 1515 gets the horn/trumpet size about right as well even though his archers are poorly conceived and all left handed. The Burgundian archers were an elite bunch not like the ones in Schilling's depictions. Each piece of evidence should be judged on its own merits and in manuscripts the artists had to produce images that were sometimes well out of their comfort zone. Therefore one mistake doesn't mean it is all wrong and vice versa. The artist of the line drawings in George Gush's book is Ian Heath who went on to revise some of the drawings for his own Medieval and early Renaissance armies books. Gush wrote the text but did not do the drawings. I am sure Heath used the Braun and Schilling depictions as his basis. BTW halberdiers did use the spike bit as well otherwise they may as well have used a bill or short pike and look at Schilling and many of the halberdiers use their weapons like axes.
It seems the Burgundians are proposed by Red Box.

And I suppose you have seen the, erm?.. "interesting" and "considered" Response at Strelets to your mentioning the 1893 panorama of the Battle of Murten ;-)

BTW: We do not have a participant from Switzerland in the Group Build! So stop writing and start painting. There are so many nice figures, that could be used.

From the rude and arrogant behaviour of a certain party on the Strelets forum, I was beginning to think he was a Swiss Troll! (geddit? )

They look to match the Redbox figures more than MiniArt Swiss. Does anyone have both for confirmation? Even though the set is for the earlier Burgundian period I think the armored halberd would work with later pike blocks. Some of these figures even look like they could be easily converted to pikemen.

I´ve got both sets, RedBox and UR, They match..and yep, converting to pikemen would, as you say, be easy.

They are very pricy but I have warmed to the idea of buying them.
It seems painting flag patterns is in vogue since the Parade work started. BB
